Don't worry I've had a run in with Magasee, when he can't answer he throws scripture at you. My thinking, he has a set in stone view point and nothing and no reason will change his mind on his interpretations of the Bible.
Edit: also he has comprehension issues, he doesn't understand some words and meanings. Sometimes I think he's an idiot, other times I think he's clown. Never have I thought he intelligent.

Think it's just another sad example of why God didn't create/want religions (institutions). Reads to me as someone who's thinking was broken, likely an early age. 'You can't use common sense or logic in interpretting ____' My preacher/imam/rabbi insisted it was literal and anything else is heretical. You've triggered cognitive dissonance, they can neither accept your words nor can they let them go...because deep down they can feel the truth. You did a good job imo, and I'd leave the conversation there...you shook their foundation (that they thought immovable) it's their choice now whether to repair, rebuild, or ignore.
a) I wouldn't be so cavalier in assuming everyone you encounter is an affront to God and needed/needs saving, but maybe that's just me being cautious. Some of the flock stayed in the coop, to them accusations of sin would be akin to victim blaming.
b) I Didn't and am not trying to stop preaching of the Gospel...don't where you're pulling that from. Though I will caution you that an external catalyst (preaching) can only push a person so far, the last leap has to come from within...you can outline a path, but they must walk it, and bends/forks in the path will come at different times for different people.

c) Can't figure out how I insulted the Word either...are you simultaneously saying the Qur'an is man-made, and that I'm insulting the Word of God by misinterpreting that phrase? From where I sit there seems to be a contradiction, if I'm not misreading.
I duly apologize if I've misread this exchange, but my gut tells me my take is true. A relationship with God is 1-on-1, If you (re)found God on your own and built your foundation and temple through personal communion then just ignore me and the OP. If your relationship with God relies on anything external to you I would strongly suggest restructuring.

I agree, I often have an urge to keep going in hopes that they begin to understand what I am saying. But you are right.
