My own dad swore if anyone hurt me he'd be going to jail for battery and assault and potential murder. A parent will go to any length for their kids. Doesn't make it right. I was 100% serious and I still am to this day. The entire family knows, that I would take a person killed them and bury them in the desert, and go to Mexico. End of story.
