I think this is the just the tip of it to be honest. Some states will follow in this line of thinking. Some will continue to be lap dogs for government funds. A fracture maybe? Is the country about to split into freedom living patriot states and government tyranny states?

My family and I are heavily considering leaving NC after 20 years for Tn. Cooper will not protect NC citizens right to informed consent. We're looking at small cities and towns in eastern Tn. Any recommendations?

Please don't leave NC. We all know Cooper was installed, not elected. It truly is a red state, with a few concentrated spots of blue. Stay and help get Lt Gov. Mark Robinson as our next Governor.

My wife and I have begun conversations about leaving NYS. We have young kids and both our families are relatively close by. I did not grow up with that kind of proximity to my grandparents, she did. We are reluctant to give that up unless it’s absolutely necessary. Everyday Hochul and our legislature presses closer to our red lines. Vax mandates for kids will be one for sure.

Anyway, I have spent a lot of time in NC for work. I love it there, but I took it off our list once they installed Cooper. It’s hard for me to see how this can be prevented in the future. Is the legislature taking steps for fortify your elections that can bypass Coopers signature? I’m actually not asking sarcastically. If we do this, we’re going to make a red state redder. I’m just not up for moving to a purple state that’s being compromised to a blue one. We’d be leaving that hellish environment and it would be painful to be a part of that slide, powerless to stop it.

Disappointing about TN’s cost of living. It was on our list. If we end up giving up big careers to move I definitely don’t want a high cost of living.

Not sure what you mean about TN's cost of living. TN is pretty low, does not have an income tax, but the bigger cities have been compromised - most likely through various forms of illegal voting. Stay out east or live in a suburb of Nashville. Memphis suburbs are good but the city is basically a warzone and consistently ranks in the top 5-10 in all areas of crime. Nashville has been further compromised via the legislation that has attracted several businesses from NY to relocate there.

Oh, I was specifically referring to folks citing high housing costs. But yeah, I know of a company local to me relocating to TN. We’re a red part of the state but doesn’t mean the folks relocating are, so your point is well taken. If we end up moving we’re not bringing compromising politics.

Depends on how small you are thinking. East TN is experiencing a huge population surge. Real estate is hard to come by. If you like Rural, look at Athens and Benton areas. Prices are still reasonable.

my East TN house I bought 3.5 years ago for 183,000, now appraised for 483,000.

thats how bad it is right now, I wouldnt even be able to afford my own house if I had to buy it in this market

honestly, this is happening across the U.S. now, not just TN.

We've been looking at 15K to 1500 people cities. New Market, Jonesborough, Spring City, Greeneville, Church Hill, Dandridge. We don't know the areas well and are going based on a few factors (political climate, cost of living, crime rate, property taxes, median home value, unemployment rate). We home school so the school system is not as important but still important to having a quality community.

Gotcha. We are south of I-40, so I don’t have much input for you. Moved here from NY to escape the taxes and now grateful to be removed from the madness.

Praise the Lord. This is beautiful.

So...does this cover an individual in TN that works for a multi-state corporation with a 100+ sales force? The corporation is based in the U.S. and has a sales force scattered across all states.

I'm not able to tell from this article and other state's laws are just as confusing imo.

That's a legal question that should be answered by a lawyer familiar with the legislation. Have any lawyer friends?

It's not all it's cracked up to be according to Gary Humbles of Tennessee Stands: https://tennesseestands.org/commentary/hospitals-and-federal-contractors-are-now-pushing-the-boundaries-with-the-denial-of-religious-exemptions/

Things heated up this past week in Tennessee with the passage of an omnibus bill that while helping many Tennesseans with the issues of employer-mandated vaccines and mask requirements in schools, it left a gaping hole for the federal government to waltz right in and show the state who’s boss. And boy did they.

You get that the federal government had their eyes on us during the special session at the end of October, right? You understand that they were just waiting to see what our legislature would do, don’t you? They were looking to see if we would stand, or if we would fold. And if you have been following along, then you know that we folded. And within a mere matter of days, the feds pounced with requirements on federal contractors and a new interim final rule from CMS requiring the vaccination of all healthcare workers.

Agree. This doesn’t help the employees at the National Lab that received the “religious exemption” and are out on unpaid leave. There’s a lawsuit pending but it could be months before it’s decided.

In a way, it seems appropriate.

Contrary to him signing the bill, schools are not out of the woods yet. The United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee is fighting the it. Schools are still requiring the mask.

Love my state. I feel like Lee is sympathetic to people like Abbott and Desantis, but he flies under the radar with it. Texas and Florida is bombastic with the defiance, and Lee is just silently protecting the people of our state right under their nose 😂
