Now realize, that the mask is partially transparent, and that the camera flash shows the face underneath.
Then reconcile with the surrounding drops:

See through the mask.

Well it certainly looks like classic alien or insectoid eyes underneath.
Exactly.
To me it looks more like a demon than an alien.
