Instead, agree to have a Christmas dedicated to treating each other with love and worshiping Jesus Christ. Have a nice meal and set a place for Jesus Christ and just relax.
Make Christmas about Christ and family rather than ugly materialism.
I commend you and your family. My family too strives to keep Jesus Christ as the focus of our celebration.
I was fine with your first post. But in your second post you descend into the type of condescending virtue signalling that makes me want to vomit. Who are you to judge the rest of us?
I buy gifts for my grandchildren, and my children before them, because their smiles and laughter brings joy to my heart. I buy gifts for my wife and my parents to show them the great appreciation I have for them being a part of my life.
The gifts I buy have meaning beyond your "greed, gluttony and clutter of materialism".
This. Nothing in this life is more fun than giving and watching the excitement of traditions being passed to a new generation, like cookie decorating, gathering greenery, and singing Silent Night, and teaching the joy of giving a hand decorated pencil holder. I love Jesus and love celebrating His birthday.
Liberation can only be self-realized by realizing your true Self within, when you are empty of any notion of lack, when you are empty of desire, and when you no longer limit your happiness by false concepts that attempt to define it.
Only when you are unbound by illusory attachments will ultimate freedom be found.
I have only just dipped my toe into that world. Got DWAC, PHUN and HCWB, all seemingly at the wrong time as they all dropped, but forecasts seem to say "stay."
I plan to add to my DWAC when we get tot eh bottom. Got in at 65 and want to lower my average price by buying low.
This year making gifts for my kids & wife. Each one combines metal work, electrical, & painting. Am self-employed, it's all part of what I do. Got an early start so I won't be scrambling last minute. Would encourage everyone to do similar.
If you can't, look for something they needused and fix it up. Check flea markets, vintage shops, antique stores, or thrifts. Also consider buying at a holiday craft fair, art gallery, or something handmade on etsy. Yes, etsy. Have done this many time and it always connects better than going out to buy something they can buy themselves and have delivered next day. And if you find something handmade by a crafter, craftsman, or artist you directly support their work.
The only reason why I would ever go to Best Buy is to loot the he shot out of it. And Bass Pro/Cabela's. Especially their firearms section. Daddy needs a new 30/06.
Or don't buy anything.

He just offered a viable alternative, and a pretty good one, that does what you suggested.
Perhaps you are correct and Christmas isn't about Jesus Christ and is more about iPhones and consoooooming. /s
Zinger. Keep those new senses working brighter in thought.
No, instead my family celebrates Jesus Christ's birth during Christmas.
The greed, gluttony and clutter of materialism is an ugly distraction from the true purpose of celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
iPhones and Nike do not equal love: those are things that corporations have tricked people into worshiping so they can become even filthier.
You can attack my family for not buying into that spiritually bankrupt consooooooomer bullshit if you want, but we want no part of it.

If you express your appreciation for your wife and parents using products then perhaps you're doing it wrong.
I know that neither your wife nor parents measure love in units of consumable products.
We both know there are ways you can improve those relationships without materialism. You may not like to hear it, but we both know it's true.
Make a special effort everyday and do it without products.
Your loved ones don't want or need consumables.
Double down

https://www.arataacademy.com/eng/finances/are-your-possessions-possessing-you/ “If a thief is shackled by iron handcuffs and a king by golden handcuffs, does that mean that the king is not bound?” you don’t possess your possessions, they possess you.

You mean like "you will have nothing and you will like it?"
Amen, fren. We made that switch a few years back. Now we take family skiing/snowboarding trips instead of enriching the uber-rich, OR China.
Buy American, if at all. But ABOVE all, celebrate the reason for the season!
This is the Way.

Can't Stop. Won't Stop! Christmas on the Moon!
Silver makes a great present.
And AMMO, and food stores . . .

Good idea. Thanks fren!

I couldn't find Game Stop so I went to EB Games instead.

Game stop are commies, they kicked me out for not wearing a mask
Weird, because they are not forcing the jab on their employees. They even recently hired a game caster with a hardline anti-vax stance.
