Interesting. I will say that a handful of months ago when I had a week trip to Hawaii that I was sleeping 10x better and waking up feeling more refreshed than I ever have in my life. I have always struggled in the mornings to wake up as I never feel refreshed. I always wake up feeling dazed, numb, and confused. I also find myself tired throughout the day and wanting to nap. But for whatever reason in Hawaii I was waking up feeling pretty good and had energy throughout the day. The only thing I could think of was that I was getting A LOT more sun exposure.
But I've also wondered if a light case of sleep apnea could be the cause as well..
Possibly the environment and sun exposure but I’m referring to the practice of sun gazing or “eating”, which involves staring directly at the sun when it’s near the horizon.
Or get double vision, like what happened to me when I was around 13. I've been stuck with that for 23 years now. No problems day to day, but when I relax my eyes everything splits in two.
Not true, practiced for thousands of years. Done only last hour before sunset and first hour of sunrise starting at ten seconds and ten seconds more each consecutive day. UV is low at this point and safe if you build up your time doing it. Yes,just suddenly staring at the sun during it’s normal height is very dangerous. Done carefully in aforementioned manner is safe.
Very interesting. I had not heard of that before. Although I did that almost daily when in Hawaii as we watched the sun come up some mornings and definitely watched it go down in the evenings. Maybe that was another part of it. Hmmm...
Can confirm the sun plays a huge role in sleep cycles. I live in Alaska and during the summer when we get about four hours of twilight I am awake all the time and live on basically four hours of sleep without any repercussions of feeling tired. On the opposite side, in the winter when we get maybe four hours of daylight I become like the bear and basically hibernate. Can’t drag myself out of bed to the point I make a four shot esspresso before bed and put in a bedside thermos and drink it (after water) a half hour before I have to actually get out of bed. Still wouldn’t live anywhere else - lots of views for days and too much fun and fish here!
The air is much cleaner in mid Pacific too. Being on the coast also the air is enriched with tons of negative ions which give a clear head. I grew up on the coast and prefer it, but settled in retirement in the mountains; as mainly an escape from society.
I have a feeling it has to do with sun/retinal exposure and the pineal gland.

People, if you stare at sun you go blind. Dont.
