So yesterday I started feeling nauseous, and then around dinner time started getting soreness and chills. Was going to tough it out and go to work anyway because I don’t want to deal with “you need to get a covid test” (never have, don’t plan to) “or stay out of the office for 10 days per state rules” (I have stuff to do there next week).
After a shower got a wave of hot and nausea and Decided today would be miserable in the office and that id call in. What would you tell your boss in this situation? I already had food poisoning this summer so don’t want to lie about that. Was going to go with lack of sleep but was wondering if you guys had anything better?
Water heater went out, have to wait for the repair man
Just tell them you have a severe migraine headache. :>)
No symptoms, nothing else needed... you just have a very severe, splitting migraine headache. The migraine medicine package says it will make you drowsy and not to operate equipment or drive.
Headache should be gone within a few hours.
Don't use headache. Most "covid" cases are headaches and they will count this as a quarantinable symptom.
Ate some bad Carne Asada last night.....you dont want me in 2day bruv.......blowin dat toilet up O_O
My basement flooded with shit the day before thanksgiving. So long as none of your coworkers know what your home looks like and whether or not you have a basement, I can send you pics of mine to provide as “proof” that you need to stay home and deal with the plumbers etc….
Say your back went out. No way you can work but no affiliation to virus symptoms.
Good one. I went with a neckache. I now have chronic neck aches ;)
Carbon monoxide. Thank goodness you got it on time but you need to rest and recover.
But when I call in sick I never gave a reason as it’s none of my bosses business.
And frens, don't forget to take a photo of that blown tire for days like this 😉
Here's what I used to do. I would call in and start saying my stomach is upset and I don't know which end to put over the toilet. They tell me to stop talking and just stay home and away from them. It worked every time. :)
Tell us what you came up with. I would have said I have a locked up back and that I was going to stay home to heat and ice it. When I went to work the next day I would have walked around stiffly when necessary to move about at all.
A hurt neck from sleeping on it wrong, to my supervisor, and “not feeling well” in an email to the teams I work with. No questions asked and a couple “feel better” replies.
Huge hemorrhoid. Can't even walk with this thing hanging off my ass, want me to send a picture?
LOL that works
Thank you for the suggestions, knew I could count on y’all. I wish we all lived in our own little village of like minded geniuses.
Either something completely unrelated, a line blew at your house or something. Or a medical situation that couldn't possibly be tied to any form of sickness. I started my year out with a lodged kidney stone and couldn't work because the pain was so excruciating. Maybe call in with kidney stones?
Ooh kidney stones is a good one, probably get a couple days off for that one.
I was out for 2 weeks cause I had to have 2 surgeries for it, couldn't fake that much but yeah most people won't argue a kidney stone, can't be traced to any kind of sickness, is reasonable to not work, and you should get a few days off for it at least. Can add fuel to the fire and tell them you're on narcotics for the pain involved in passing it and can't work on narcotics. Also important to note that the pain of kidney stones is not the "sharp scraping" but the blockage of the flow of urine. So at any time during it's journey (there's 3 pinch points), you can experience excruciating pain, so it's not a quick "lets pee it out" kind of thing.
Fair question. Before covid it was definitely like that, no questions asked. The only time I’ve called in since was right before a scheduled vacation and for that they want a doctors note. So it may still be. But also I work with idiots who might like the assurance that they aren’t exposed or whatever. I have a good relationship with my managers and don’t want to appear secretive all of a sudden.
Some bigger companies have partnered with health services and you have to fill out a questionnaire on an app daily before going into work. This has been hell for the restaurant industry bc millennial dont want to work as is but still want to keep their job so they check off a covid symptom anytime they want a day off... which is always!
