My brother went to the dentist today. He has been going there the entire time, no signs for masks. He goes in this morning and sign says masks required for vaxxed and unvaxxed. He ignores it.
Finally the receptionist calls his name and holds a mask up. My brother says, I don't wear masks. She says we will try to get you back there soon.
While sitting there another patient comes in, goes to check in, is told to put on mask. He says I am not doing this, cancel my appointment. She cancelled it and he left.
It was great to see others standing up to this. I will say my brother seems to have found a good way to not masking. I would have been the guy that walked out. My brother nicely says I don't wear one and ignores the directive. By doing this it forces the other person to press the issue and eventually ask you to leave. Rather than him being confrontational he kindly does not comply, forcing the gatekeeper to be the bad guy.
This worked for him at a highly masked golf course pro shop a while back. The guy behind the counter asks him to put one on, he says he doesn't wear one. The guy says it is not my rule, but is the rule here, my brother says I understand, continues non compliance. Finally the guy says, I guess this is an argument for another day, my brother says, or not at all. He paid for his round and walked out.
If you can be nice, test the gatekeeper, make them be the bad guy.
"I'm lawfully exempt". Works every time
I tried that at a Perkins once. The fat waitress said "Doesn't matter, you have to put one on until you sit down at your table." The table was 2 steps away. I should have walked out right then and there but my mom insisted we stay. I'm pretty sure they tampered with my food too, probably spat in it and other disgusting things.
Ignoring them is the best bet.
We had a hostess refuse to seat us.
Smiled, picked a table and sat ourselves. The rest of the meal was uneventful.
😂And after you've seated yourself, you don't need to wear a mask, so problem solved!
"No thanks." Is my response. If they push I tell them to quit watching TV before it kills them.
Outstanding!
Went to my dentist back in October 2021. Signs everywhere to wear a mask (and in a dentist's office it's the stupidest thing since you're there to sit with your mouth open) but I walked in without one, checked in, and the receptionist said nothing, she was actually very cheery. I breathed a sigh of relief but I worried that the dental hygienist would tell me to wear one for the 10 feet walk to the chair. She didn't. She greeted me cheerfully as well, said nothing of the masks, got my teeth cleaned, covid was barely even brought up as a topic, I paid my bill and then left!
It was nice to not be harassed about masks for once.
I was near the first appt set when my dentist opened back up, I told the receptionist I am happy to come in, but will not wear a mask. She asked if she could call me back. Spoke to the dentist and said no problem. If they ever require them, I will either find a dentist that doesn't or not go.
I was nervous about going to the dentist honestly. I like this dentist and I'm trying to fix my teeth. Signs on the door, but I ignored it and they didn't say anything.
Had the door greeter at Costco and at Target tell me I had to wear one and tried to give me one. I said no thanks and kept walking. Got told to leave a Rubios and the bank, but oh well. Let these powerless hypochondriacs abuse their position and treat people like shit. That's all they'll ever have.
