did anybody read the article? you can still start your car with the keys that came with the car, You can still start the car remotely if you are in close proximity to the car.
YOU ONLY NEED THE $8 A MONTH SUBSCRIPTION TO REMOTE START USING THE INTERNET
The article clearly states you need the sub fee to start the car using either the internet OR your fob key. So the fact the above nonsense is top comment is probably a worse indicator of what happens on this site all too often.
Did you read the headline? It states that you have to pay a subscription fee to drive your own vehicle meaning that someone else can turn on and shut off your vehicle remotely which isn't a good thing to begin with, it's also giving more control over to someone else... This article means you have to pay them but they still have access to turning your car on and off from elsewhere.
If we're talking about giving the ability to turn off cars to corporations then I agree that is not a car I want to own, but I'm having trouble seeing how charging for a feature which you do not need to drive or own a car coincides with the WEF's plan to remove private ownership entirely.
You're rude and insulting=you're rude and insulting.I was actually backing you up in my first post, but I also was pointing out the thinking behind this.
If you don't think that others having remote access to your vehicle and you paying them to do it is not a good thing Idk what to tell you.
You're correct, being snarky and insulting is. If you have such an issue with the people here, why are you here? To think, you call yourself a Christian, some fine example you are.
Subscription car service and that’s such a poorly written article I’m still not sure the above snarky comment is correct.
“ Unless they read the fine print, however, owners may not have known that the key fob method was also part of the Remote Connect subscription. Toyota confirmed to The Drive that you'll need a paid subscription on every 2018 and newer Toyota model to use the function.”
Sounds to me you can’t use the remote start on the pocket keys without the subscription.
I have a 2018 Lexus NX300, the article is accurate, but this isn’t a new “great reset” thing. My 2015 was the same way. I do think it’s stupid
I pay for the remote services so I can remote start from my phone, and from the key fob. If you cancel the app remote start, you can’t remote start from the key fob anymore either. It’s retarded, but it’s been this way since at least 2015.
“ You can still start the car remotely if you are in close proximity to the car.
YOU ONLY NEED THE $8 A MONTH SUBSCRIPTION TO REMOTE START USING THE INTERNET”
As a 2018 Lexus owner corse46 is this above statement correct?
Forgive me if this sounds dumb but why would you want to start your engine if you're not already in the car? Isn't that an invitation for someone to drive off in it?
I think it’s more for people in really cold places so they can warm up their car before they leave their house or office or what have you. Definitely another step to our pussification.
Wtf is up with buying a laptop and having to sign in to Microsoft just to get into and open it, use? I'll skip any computer that requires that and just use a small tablet.
You need to pay for the service. That means that the manufacturers have the ability to withdraw that service which means they also have the power to stop you using your iown car. OK, it may be "just" one type of keyfob for the time being but will that remain so?
Potentially, we have one of the building blocks for the new "social credit system" AKA "vaccine passports". For instance, if you correspond with someone who writes bad stuff on social media then you might have to walk to work some days.

Panic porn bullshit . . . nothing to see here
That happens all too often on this site people don't actually read the article, just the headline.

you're insane = It's only about remotely starting your vehicle from a greater distance than your FOB can

At least reading comprehension is NOT one of my faults

Not sure you’re right there.

Are you saying you have to pay Toyota $8.00 a month just to start your car? That the key will not work unless you have an active subscription?
Correct

Subaru did the same thing, except you cant use the remote start at all without paying, and they applied it to cars purchased several years ago.
Commie bastards.

That's an odd decision.
I doubt this will hold up.
I stole this from you
I broadcast it.

I know. Ducking gay.
My 2008 Cadillac SRX has a remote start keyfob that only requires a battery!
Let's join some dots ...
