Folks just need some more Tegridy these days.
Are they talking about that CBD oil you can get everywhere these days? Or what? I really don't know anything about this stuff. Will someone please help me out? Thanks.
From the article: "Importantly, cannabigerolic acid and cannabidiolic acid were equally effective against the SARS-CoV-2 alpha variant B.1.1.7 and the beta variant B.1.351."
Since you don't know much, here's a brief rundown.
The Cannabis plant family consists of three main plants: Cannabis Sativa, Cannabis Indica, and Cannabis Ruderalis
When people talk about farming/hemp/rope/etc, that's usually Ruderalis. Sativa and Indica are the devils lettuce/whacky tabaccy.
The cannabis plant has a variety of cannabinoids which bond to receptors in humans and is the main drug/pharmaceutical. It also has a lot of terpenes which are like secondary drugs/pharmaceuticals which are usually found in other plants but weed is greedy and hungry so it steals those characteristics. Common terps include linalool a chemical found in lavender, pinine from pine trees, limonen from lemons).
THC (tetrahydracannbiniol) and CBD (cannabidiol) are the most talked about and researched cannabinoids, THC is the "get you high" component, CBD is more pain relief/etc and was the one touted by the cannabis movement for legalization as it showed progress on some conditions that there were no known cures for like Druvet Syndrome. Both THC and CBD are believed to have cancer fighting effects (known for causing apoptosis in cells, "programmed cell death"). CBN (cannabinol) is a third less talked about one and generally is just known for promoting sleepiness. CBG (cannabigerol) also mentioned in this article isn't usually covered too much, as it's primarily known as being the precursor for the other cannabinoids, as the chemicals start to break down (decarboxylation) CBG deteriorates into the other cannabinoids. Cannabinoids and terpenes enhance each others effects known as the "entourage effect".
TLDR: CBD is touted in the article. If you're in a legal state, you probably want to get something cbd heavy with a bit of thc unless you're just looking to get blitzed. If you're in a non legal state but can get CBD oils/etc, then you can do that and possibly enhance the effect of the cbd slightly by adding more terpenes (eating mangos before getting stoned to get higher is kind of an old school stoner fairy tale that proved true after the entourage effect was confirmed).
Whaaaat you just made my day even merrier. Two of my favorite things. How did I not know to mix the two together. Any other fruit that has this entourage enhancement?
Due to the nature of how terpenes work, there should always be a boost based on the terpenes+cannabinoids consumed. I believe mango was alluded to having a more enhanced high due to myrcene's effect on the body which mangoes have as their predominant terp.
Oh boy. I'm not sure I understand any better than I did before, Mr.-Knows-a-lot-about-this-stuff-and-sounds-like-an-expert. :D Haha. So bottom line, if I wanted to use it to prevent cancer, will the oils do that? And if so, is there a ton of different oils or basically, just one? Because I'm not interested in smoking anything or getting high. Just looking for real medicinal benefits if there are some to be had. Thanks, fren.
A moderate dosage of a CBD oil should be fine. If you're wanting to dig in deep on the cancer side of the research, this article is a good start: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7693730/
My reasons for cannabis use are holistic with cancer prevention being a bit low on the list as my family line more has a tendency for self deletion, alzheimers, heart attack, and diabetes, all of which there are studies that I've found it helps with, but sometimes the hype behind cannabis starts to get into the woo territory "I smoked weed and got my leg back that I lost in the war". I find it helps stabilize my mood (I don't bottle the emotions up as much, instead will just let em go out whenever now). Multiple studies have shown to reduce inflammation in a variety of areas including the brain which helps against alzheimers. I find myself less stressed about things and also eat more than one meal a day when consuming which helps both the heart and diabetes (spent about 20 years of my life eating one meal a day and started having low blood sugar issues).
Interesting about the one meal / blood sugar issues. I've never heard that, but then if your family tends toward that anyway ... Thanks for the link, I'll check it out. And I do appreciate your willingness to talk to someone who literally knows nothing about it. I like the help with Alzheimer's, that's for sure. So many people afflicted with that terrible disease. Again, thanks for the info, fren.
That’s why I never got it
Nah I smoke a ton and still got it. WOmp womp.
Go ask for a refund
"Excuse me, this product didn't protect me from the coof and I'd like a refund."
I'm sure they've heard stranger things, actually.
They knew about the Pandemic Special!
Didn't for my pothead neice... but i bet it relaxed her during it
Question to fellow Christians: if you live in a state where it’s legal, and don’t use enough to get “wasted”, nor enough to make you lazy, and used where no impressionable minds will see you, is it ok for Christians to use a little bit? What about CBD?
Support your local hemp grower.
What does it say about the world when our only goal is to get fucked up… sad
I fucking knew it.
Nope.... My daughter smoked 2 joints and got covid 2 days later.... Didn't stop her from getting it....
