Definitely not legally, and I don't see how he could get one on the black market in a dark alley.
Let's be real, you don't travel to another country and know where to find the back alley, dead of night weapons market that fast. It's just not possible. Especially not a market that wouldn't suspect you of being a fed.
So this really continues to point to the federal government once again creating and arming a terrorist.
Unfortunately stolen guns are as easy to get as finding drugs. You can even get the caliber you want. People that sell drugs don't care what you look like or if you can't speak English they just want to make the sale.
In some states you can even go to a gun show and buy what you want out of the back of peoples cars with fake ID and no background check. CO was notorious for that but I think they may have changed the law.

I wasn't aware they said he got it legally. If thats the case it obviously shouldn't have happened.
I mean, it's not exactly hard to buy a used gun or find one online to do a private purchase through a random individual with no background check or waiting time. Not exactly complicated, and doesn't have to be any sort of black market. There's gun markets through private individuals wherever you are in the US.
For you maybe. I dont know many people who would sell to an obviously foreign Muslim on craigslist
