Yes I believe this is real animosity as much as I believe that Donald J. Trump got vaccinated and a booster shot even though he already has natural immunity after beating the Wuhan Virus in Oct 2020.
If it's not theater, and it's not bait, and instead it is the beginning of Trump going after Desantis because Desantis is a RINO (according to this theory), then bigger picture is that it must mean that the circle of effect is moving outward from the cabal to lesser known enemies who are wolves in sheeps clothing.
In other words, if Desantis really is a RINO, then the fact that he is starting to become a target might suggest that the white hats are expanding their net because they can... because they've got the high-value targets already.
