Fine by me…
Honestly, being recorded "on the clock" continuously (teacher or not) is something I'm against. LEO's, sure, for obvious reasons? But I'm heavily against the Surveillance State.
My opinion is if they’re Public School teachers should be recorded, as LEO’s are…both groups are paid by taxpayer. Private Schools, as long as they’re paid by parents they get privacy. ALL Gov’t employees need accountability esp at this point. IMO.
Agreed! I’m not in favor of “the surveillance state” for any private citizen but if my tax money is paying for it there should be total transparency as to what my kid is being taught and what “deals” our representatives are making. 🤷🏼♀️
I agree.
children will often not tell what abuse goes on. being picked out at an early age and frequently made an example of since third grade probably started me on a snowball that ended at the bottom of the hill very angry and not trusting anyone. I had no one I could complain to. I'd like to think if something like this was around back then maybe another parent would have objected... at any rate, not everyone has a wonderful life in public school full of enrichment and childhood glee, not everyone has a nuclear family with supportive parents.
if we video all police officers because of a very few bad eggs, why not monitor all teachers because of a very few bad eggs?
The reality is most kids don't have that bullshit either. The ones who have a great HS experience are the ones who are rich and popular.
But the concept of school itself is wrong anyway and needs overhaul
Totally against the Surveillance State. All for surveilling the State. I want accountability in exchange for 25% of my income
LEOs are only recorded while interacting with the public to investigate a crime. Otherwise the body cam is off. Teachers only need to record their lectures.
As others have mentioned, the last thing we need is a surveillance state. Privacy still matters.
Congress already gets recorded for everything they do on the floor of the chamber. Make a speech, motion to do anything in a committee, ask a question, or cast a vote? It's all recorded. That's public record.
If you think putting a camera in their office will stop the lobbyists from making crooked deals, this is just naive and stupid. They meet at a bar somewhere to hash that out. They'll find a way to deal without the camera watching. So, let's not invade people's privacy when it won't actually solve the problem anyway. If you want to go after the lobbying, do so in the way that it matters. You look at their finances for the money or gifts. Keep in mind there are already extensive laws about all of this and an entire ethics subcommittee to deal with these things.
As a retired teacher, I'm on the fence about this. Agree, no one wants their children recorded. In honesty, there have been days when I was on my last nerve with a kid and may have been curt, but think how people can "read" anything into what they see/hear at times. Just wondering how many parents would want a camera in their office/cubicle and be recorded their entire day.
if they put cameras in the classrooms eventually they will do it with public and private employees.
A slippery slope to accepting big brother is all it is. Soon it will be cameras and mics in the homes 24/7 because its for the "safety of the children".
If you dont feel your kids are safe in the schools, or anywhere else, without a camera or mic on, then dont send them to that location.
Coercion has made a lot of “critical thinkers” leave certain areas of the work force. Think police; medical etc.
I agree and disagree.
If my based friend, doesn’t feel like he can teach true history via his history class by being on some social credit system then I don’t want it.
But at the same time I can see the argument too. This is a tough one.
