Was it really Justice Breyer's decision to retire?

...when was the last time that a sitting vice president was elevated to the SCOTUS?
That can't happen. That won't happen. Please God, don't let that happen.
...then Hillary gets the open vice presidents slot...
...and you know what that means....
...pray for the best...
...plan for the worst....
Exactly. They pull that shit and they will need more than just some concrete walls.
..you can only remain "behind the curtain" for so long before your hand(s) become obvious....
the actress playing Killary.
Interesting speculation…but you could be right. Nothing would surprise me anymore.
… an unexpected, unfortunate DEATH?
...accidents don't happen in a perfect world....
Surely somewhere in his addled brain Biden realizes Kamela is is only insurance policy against being forced out or worse. Sit down and stop drooling, Killary!
It's plain to see that this is what they are trying to arrange. They have made it clear that Hilary getting in something they are working toward and this is how they do it. Will still only delay the inevitable though. Hmmmm..wonder why Joe was clutching his Kamala Harris mag yesterday? Maybe the signal was being put out to begin moving these pieces around. I Wonder if Breyer only "found out" today that he was stepping down. Maybe someone was ahem "helping" him to come to that decision.
I hope it does. Maybe it will finally force hands to be played.
It's probably the only way to get her out of the way so they can replace Biden with a more competent puppet. She'll still do what she's told on the Court. The only wild card is whether some of the more moderate Dems would break ranks on her confirmation because she's such a hideously offensive creature and putting her on the Court would blow any good will they earned with independents for killing the attempt at federalizing the elections...
Would Sinema vote against just to spite them for what they've done to her over the past few months? The stalking, harassment, backroom threats, and then the formal censure, etc.
Valid observations....
there's the matter of her birth certificate to consider
...howls...
...birth certificate, we don't need no stinking birth certificate...
,,,if you can be president without one, why would a justice need one?
Cornering her in the bathroom... hope she has a long memory.
It would be an interesting solution. It would remove the political problem of not wanting to either re-run Biden or nominate Harris for the Presidency in 2024, while at the same time giving Harris a respectable way out of office while also getting her reliable liberal vote on SCOTUS.
However, there are a few problems.
Harris as VP is currently a tiebreaker for the Dems, and they've made use of her frequently in that role with the Senate as closely split as it is. Losing her as VP would create legislative problems and give Republicans a lot more power in Congress until she is replaced.
She might be able to cast a tiebreaking vote in her own SCOTUS confirmation in the Senate as the VP, which is obviously problematic.
It would give Republicans a lot of leverage in the fight confirming the new VP, especially if we're heading into mid-terms.
Biden can't actually fire Harris, as she was elected to office alongside him and is subject to the same protection from being fired from office that he is. She would basically need to agree that this is all a good idea and voluntarily resign, which seems counter to her political aspirations at the moment.
Doubtful that it's even remotely viable, but an interesting thought experiement.
...all those machinations are solved with one very simple solution...
...Vice President Hillary Clinton ....
"Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress." If GOP allow this, I'm for civil war.
...doggy grins"....
Oh yea.
Bad dog! Outside with you
...we have so much snow that when I squat to poop, my butt hole freezes shut...
...howls...
...that's me trying to poop....
... and then Joe Biden would never be seen in Washington DC ever again because of the implied ... and pending ... suicide threat.
...he doesn't make those decisions....
Killery would end him sooner rather than later.
Are Democrats really all that hot for Hillary?
I am not, no. I likely spent more time arguing against Clinton in 2015-16 than most people here.
I am uncertain what role she’ll play, if any. Biden was almost nobody’s first choice, but no Democrat felt passionately against him, which is why he was nominated. But he isn’t really that exciting, and Clinton is very much tied to his era of Democratic politics, which is more conservative than many Democrats are.
Eventually, the party is going to have to start throwing bones to the more progressive side of the party, though even then it’ll be someone more moderate like Buttigieg or Booker.
I do not predict most of the voters would rally behind a woman who lost to Trump in 2016 because of, in my view, largely her own arrogance and entitlement to the Presidency. Especially since it seems very possible that either Trump or a hand-chosen proxy is going to be on the ballot in 2024, and both Clinton and Biden are more likely to excite the conservatives into voting for Trump than a new candidate would.
We’ll see. A lot of time before then.
...it doesn't matter...they will be "force fed"...
...and like it....
You forget THEY DON’T CARE, they announced Breyers retirement without even telling the guy!
Does she even still have a political future?
Maybe they're pulling a Trump, promising Kamala the position so she retires, then they snatch it away ... "we've changed our minds."
Not looking good with that change. No Kamala
...what is to stop it...
...the dems are calling the shots if they can get a couple of RINOs on board....
Would this scenario be a Law of War Manual marker? 11.3 end of occupation or something to that affect?
