Probably selling it. About ten years ago a lot of people on welfare were buying up nice steaks and selling them. I had heard the rumors for at least a year. A guy I went to school with is a deputy sheriff. A guy approached him the grocery store about buying meat from him. (I don’t agree with how he handled it) Deputy sheriff told the guy he was in law enforcement & he “could” arrest him. In my opinion that’s compliance or looking the other way. I get it, end of day off work, paperwork, arrest & they are back on the street. Doesn’t make it right!

It doesn’t cost anything for the people on government assistance using EBT to buy at the grocery store. The people buying were probably getting it for below store prices. I’m not sure but I don’t think you need ID to use EBT cards. The people could have stolen them from older people in the family. (Just guessing, older people get money stolen from family all the time.)
