I am in shock and have been crying a lot. All I know is she was not vaccinated, did have some medical issues, was sick for a week, and went to the emergency room. They said she had healthy vitals (she did have co-morbidities and was older). Very shortly thereafter they said she took a turn for the worse and put her in ICU. She died early this morning.

I'm so sorry for your loss :-( .
You might want to get an independent autopsy done. If the hospital did anything wrong, the records will somehow change to make it look like they did everything right.
Thank you. Her husband and son are already arranging cremation. They aren't awake regarding any of this. I was hoping the hospital records would be attainable by me... and that they would show what they gave her......
I'm realizing so many have had this happen and then probably decided that, since the person was already gone, they would let it go because they were overwhelmed with grief.
Your sister‘s husband will have to go the medical records department in the hospital during working hours 8 to 5. Request a copy of her medical file. There will be a small fee. I paid $8.00 for my mother’s.
Edit: explain to her husband that it is the family’s right to have that information and it is a common request.
If family members put up a fight about getting this information, explain how relatives health issues can "run in the family" and you want to be in the know
Nice. That’s a good one. Go at it from the “health” angle.
I would use the "health" angle AND say that he (husband) should get the medical file in case there are discrepancies/over billing so he won't overpay for anything that should be covered by insurance.
Yes, that too!
HIPAA won't allow it unless she signed the papers for it.
I have been gathering info throughout the day from family (I am in another state). She was sick for a week... they took her into the hospital. After no family was allowed back they said things were bad, the lining around her heart was affected... and then she had heart failure the same night. If I can get the records, I will check on that piece of it too. Thank you.
Sorry to hear about this.
You mentioned the lining of her heart...did she live with or work closely with vaxxed people?
The people I know who are unvaxxed and living with a vaxxed person get just about as sick.
If you can intervene to get an autopsy that is gold standard. Sometimes the local sheriff/police will assert that they need it for a criminal investigation, but you have might have to file criminal charges, like negligence for them to act on it and there are fees. However, having it is the ace in the hole of a court case.
It's admirable that you're willing to fight when most people would give up due to their grief. I hope you can find out what happened.
Yes autopsy. If it's a covid death i hear the government pays $10,000 for funeral expenses if you elect not to get one. Autopsy is a must if you want to know what really happened.
Medical Residents are often tasked with this work both knowingly and unkowingly.
