It exists electronically... it can be shut off
I don't think you have any idea how "it" works
It’s obvious that “it” will simply disappear - poof - into thin air in the absence of the internet.
You ever considered what happens when the internet goes poof? You think bit coin will be the only casualty. Everything you do from driving down the highway will stop on a dime. Huge companies like Google or Amazon would become obsolete instantly. (Good News!) The power grids go down and massive power outages.
Here's the good news -- a total collapse of the internet would be almost impossible.
Are you also saying that a widespread and prolonged power grid failure is “almost impossible”?
do you realize that "Internet stops" wont make anything disappear, right? ALL information, EVERYWHERE, is still on Hard Drives, and simply connection to another network would mean that everything still works?
Bitcoin isn't stored on "the internet", because "the internet" only stores information being passed along it, which arrives at the location and is either used and trashed or stored on a Hard Drive.
ALL CRYPTO ARE SAFE FROM AN GRID SHUTDOWN.
Absence of the internet where?
And do you actually think that the internet will go POOF just like that?? Some crypto doesn’t even need the internet to exists. Helium (mining) and their nodes is a great example. Use a search engine to fine some more information about that. Think of the helium network like ham radios vs other cryptos like digital audio transmission such as Spotify. If internet goes down, spotify goes down, though a network of radio nodes like Helium would still stay online.
EDIT: actually that first part isn’t entirely true either. Blockchains, while they exist on the internet, can exist on every single computer which uses that asset. For example, XMR (Monero) you have the option to download the whole blockchain locally or use a node where the blockchain lives. In my case, I use it locally. Crypto isn’t going anywhere. The only suckers will be those who keep their assets in exchanges or cloud based wallets
My point is simply this: no electricity, no internet.
LOL I don't think I have any idea how my computer, or electric guitar pickups, or DVR, or TV work, but I know if it's electronic it can be shut off
My guitar pickups will NEVER be shut off !
😂😂

The unassailable logic of this continues to escape some people
Eletronic means it uses Electricity, but it doesnt mean it can be shut of because now it has no electricity.
As soon as you turn on your computer again, your computer works again, its still there, nothing lost.
"it can shut off" doesnt mean it'll disappear, just be... OFF, for as long as having access to ANY source of Electricity takes.

Wow just think the government could end child porn just by flipping a switch.
Just shut off the internet.
Poof. All gone. All nations complied. Clean slate. Nothing stored anywhere offline.
(Are you starting to comprehend the load stupid you just excreted?)
You might be the only person in this forum "Qlueless" enough to think the govt has any interest in ending child porn, which is pretty "load stupid" in its own right; and Qlueless enough to believe that hallucinating a grotesque caricature of a statement, and then mocking your own hallucination, is persuasive.
Yeah because everyone having as much access to the internet as a North Korean is going to go over well.
Report to your computer console in building 8 and wait for instructions from your party observer. You have a 16 hour shift of spreading propaganda followed by 10 minutes of free internet access. Monitored of course.
I get that part, and it's impressive... in a fair, un-corrupt world.
But it's electronic / so access can be denied, Did you know that there a chips in just about every piece of hardware between you and everything else?
Your encryption key is a file, the coins are files, files can be corrupted
And "off" was probably a bad choice of words I could've used, gone, poof, oops, a million other words that mean you can't get at it.
Plus every .com .edu whatever is registered to the government. If the government wants to get between you and your money they will. What good is your house key or fancy security system when the building has been burned to the ground, bulldozed over and there's a army posted there?
What if every node were shut down electronically via backdoors or just plain old brute force?
