First, I am Catholic, and so is this other guy.
I responded to him and asked, "Do you remember how you felt when the first news about Catholic priest abuses in Boston broke, a couple of decades ago?"
He replied, "I was sort of numbed with disbelief."
"Okay," I continued, "and have you ever thought about how such a scandal could exist for so long, not to mention other scandals? Have you ever thought about the power structure at the top levels of the church administration that manipulated things to keep all the scandals a secret?"
"I guess I never thought of it that way," he replied.
"Well, " I said, "do you think that the the Catholic church is the only entity in the history of the world to have a power structure, and secret scandals, etc.?"
Silence.
"And so," I added, "by simple extrapolation, I am confident that a relatively tiny number of people in the highest positions among the governments, corporations and other institutions are all busy pushing their agendas, and protecting their secrets. And if that's true, it's probably just as true that an even higher level of controllers are orchestrating things to their advantage and to further their agenda."
Deer in the headlights stare.
The difference is that 99% of Catholics don't defend the Vatican or deny the child rape scandals. We express contempt for everyone involved, including the Popes, and acknowledge the horrific problem in full.
Whereas criticizing any of the Harry Potter Banking Goblin crimes will result in 99% of the goblins throwing a conniption fit, denying the problem, lying about the problem and trying to shut you down. They will accuse you of racism, down-vote you and try to use cancel culture to get you fired from your job and use crocodile tears to protect their criminal brothers and sisters.
Your reply is the logical fallacy of false equivalence.
Catholics are not just like the banking goblins.
Honestly, you lost me. If you'd like to re-explain without the goblins, I'd like to know what you're saying.
Praise be to God (The Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit). The only ones who deserve praise.
Exactly the Bible and Jesues through all his gospels NEVER says anything about praying to his Mother! Those prays are left unanswered because she's dead. What they ate doing is praying to a FALSE IDOL.
Reverence and honor to her as God’s chosen to bear his Son, yes. Pray to No.
They are not praying to mother Mary. She is dead and can't hear. They are praying to a FALSE IDOL.
Catholics don't pray to Mary. And the sins of man (even ones this heinous) don't and have never changed the fact that the Church is the spotless Bride of Christ, made spotless by His Blood, as are we all.
They have this prayer called the Hail Mary....
Hes avoiding the questions. Why not statues of grandmother Mary to pray to? They just spew dogma instead of giving clear answers. Kinda like masons they act like they have some secret knowledge. To proud to admit they was lied to and still believe the garbage.. Lol
One, the First half of the Hail Mary is straight out of the bible, even the King James version. Two, the second half is simply a request for Mary to intercede with her son Jesus to listen to our prayers Ie. remember when Jesus tells her at the wedding feast at Canna that its not his time and she tells the servants "do what ever he tells you" and Jesus honors his earthly mother's request. Third read The Perfect Protestant and Catholic Prayer by Peter Ingemi "Hail Mary"
All sin is equal in the eyes of the father. There is no degree of sins. So your "HEINOUS sin" rings hallow. No such thing. Sin is sin.
Where's grandmother Mary's statue and necklace. Is she not just as important? Was she not preordained by God to birth the one preordained to birth Jesus. Does the holy reverence end at Mary. Where's the granny statues?
So because some priests molested children that means Mary the MOTHER OF CHRIST deserves no praise?
The US government facilitates human trafficking yet we still love our country.
Not because pedopriest, simply because Jesus told us how to pray and who to pray to and he never said to pray to Mary. Only the father through Jesus. Do you pray to every significant person in the Bible? Bible Cleary states praying/worshiping anything other than the Father through christ Jesus is worship of a False Idol. Mary is dead in the ground but Jesus is alive and in us all. So you can continue the worship of idols but you already know the consequences of that.
Why do you not erect a statue of Mary's mother and pray to it. Is her mother not just as important? She was ordained to give birth to the person that was to give birth to Jesus. Mary wouldn't be here if God had not chosen her to birth Mary. Holy Mary's mom grandmother of grace. I mean why stop there. Whose Mary's grandma we need to pray to her because if it wasn't for Mary's grandma her mom couldn't have birthed her to birth the christ.
Catholics don't pray to Mary nor worship her statues. We ask Mary to pray for us. Surely you know the Confetior?
"I confess to almighty God, and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have sinned through my own fault, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done, and in what I have failed to do; and I ask Blessed Mary, ever Virgin, all the angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God. May almighty God have mercy on me, and forgive me my sins, and bring me to life everlasting. Amen"
Maybe do 5 seconds of research on the Catholic church before making nonsensical false claims.
Jesus shouldn't be worshiped either. He came here as a example, not to be placed on a pedestal. Man has managed to distort and corrupt that, too.
Fuck I know. Catholics ate brainwashed into false idols and get mad when you ask where in the Bible it says to pray to Mary. They literally love their little denomination more than Jesus Christ. Who did not found the catholic church. His apostles did that so as imperfect humans we can't say that is the route Jesus meant for them to take. The apostles turned what Jesus did into a company and lost its grassroots features.
Say what? The Holy Mother of Jesus Christ deserves the greatest love and reverence — she is the shining light that all should seek. I suppose this might be a “Catholic” thing; but any Christian would agree, no?
