I work in the farming industry and must admit, I had no idea. We produce shit tons of wheat. Possibly the food processors are importing, like the auto manufacturers sourced in 3rd world countries? Here is a decent synopsis of the wheat industry in the US. https://wheatinquestions.com/grain/readers-ask-who-buys-wheat-in-the-united-states.html
We export most of the grains we produce. It's why we feed roughly 75% of the world. And we import everything to make up for the losses from exporting. It's called "free trade."
I didn't think to check ITC. Here is what we imported from Russia, wheat, in tons, in 2020. You can change the country and see Ukraine as well, which is not nearly as much as Russia.
