The company I work for has decided to keep mandates, despite the government no longer applying them.
My boss wants everyone to come back, but he has been alone for about a year now. No one cares. Either we work from home, or we do not work at all.
It's funny. We now all notice what immense power we have.
So many got actually be with their family. You save on commute time. No rush hour. You get to know your kids. I find many now prefer jobs where they can work from home rather than go work in an office that always has that one or two annoying co-workers that love to cause drama.
I imagine the DS hates all these parents who are actually around their kids now. Can't have that.
I remember thinking when this first started there would be this kind of backlash -- but not at such a high rate.
Once ppl figure out how to have more quality time with their loved ones, they are loathe to give it up.
I think we've also seen a higher rate of side gigs and full time transition to small businesses as ppl realize other options give them more freedom and enough $ to make it. (and maybe more stability when they see their company commit hari kari in the name of "safety" or "equity".
It's bringing families closer together. I read about many students who found their lives actually improved when they were homeschooled. They got to know their parents and siblings again. They actually had stronger friendships. They were free from the bullies and bad influences at school.
When the pandemic started, the news ran all these articles about how domestic abuse would soar and divorces would skyrocket as couples had to be around each other. It was assumed being around your family would be just horrible. Ugh, I have actually get to know this person who used to go to work 60 hours a week.
However, the opposite has occurred. People have actually gotten to know each other again. There are bad stories, but overall it seems like it's helping families. Children are actually being raised by their parents again and not the teachers at schools.
absolutely.
Divorces and breakups did go up because people didn't have enough time to themselves.
Those were probably relationships that were already in dire straights to begin with.
sauce?
Sorry it's BBC https://www.bbc.com/worklife/article/20201203-why-the-pandemic-is-causing-spikes-in-break-ups-and-divorces
Thanks.
Strange because we also get this from more studies:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8302068/
And this is from more recent articles (also British news):

So one could easily argue the other is true. I personally have witnessed it bringing people together. I take it you saw the opposite.
The missus was "essential" so I didn't get to spend any extra time with her but the lack of time wasted on commuting and being able to have home-cooked lunches every day was great for me. Plus my pets certainly loved me being around.
One downside though was that all communications going through Teams and such made it harder to have the "off the record" conversations that come in useful for red-pilling coworkers.
glad it was mostly positive for you. yea, my husband never worked from home during covid. but he made it clear to upper management that ENFORCED mask requirements would result in losing the entire management team.
Interesting you mention that:
https://www.morningstar.com/news/business-wire/20220317005107/remote-work-reduces-toxic-behaviors-but-employees-no-longer-value-work-friendships
That is also true, some work friendships just fell apart over time but some of that was also largely to the other 2020 BS. However yeah nobody bothers to get to know new coworkers at all since they're just a name on a monitor.
The office Karens?
...it's called ' control ' and corporate is losing it
"How are you going to keep them down on the farm, after they've seen Pareee..."
Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. All the evil deep state actions can have side effects that are good. Reminds me of Romans 8:28.
