“In 1934, a colossal claim reached the American news media: There had been a plot to overthrow President Franklin D. Roosevelt, in favour of a fascist government. Supposedly in the works since 1933, the claims of the conspiracy came from a very conspicuous and reliable source: Major General Smedley Butler”

Smedly Butler FTW RIP.

They got what they wanted with FDR. evil, lying pog.
The way it went was their plan B.
Plan A was for fascism to spread not only across Europe but also America and Canada (Fabians).
oh. I really just learned in the past few years about FDR. had no idea he was the dirtbag that he was. :(
They write history, it makes it hard to tell who's a white hat and who's a black hat without digging deep.
very true. and like most girls, i never liked history much. if any of my history teachers were happy to teach it, I would have learned more I'm sure.
It wasn't until a few years into being married to my current husband that I learned about so many lies. He has loved history since a little boy. So I have to admit I'm pretty reliant on him (and my GAW buddies) to learn about real history.
Listen closely. "our democracy" They were already well into obscuring the Republic in favor for something that would allow them total control.
Smedley Butler was a frigging HERO.
FDR was surrounded by commie bolshevik advisors and cabinet members, like no other president before or since. Is it any wonder we financially supported Stalin and every administration following him until our taxpayer money finally ran out causing the collapse of the Soviet Union?
Communism and "Democracy" are just different sides of the same coin...
And if you haven't read Smedley Butler's War is a Racket, I encourage you to do so. Smedley's life path is an encouraging reminder that decent humans can wake up to the evil around them (including evils they have participated in) and take a stand for what is right, despite potential negative consequences.
Without reading I knew it would be smedly
I am sorry, but the Smedley Butler narrative doesn't pass the smell test for me. Butler's testimony was brought forward by actual communists in Congress, and it served FDR's agenda all too well.
I would reccomend all here read Smedley Butler's "War is a Racket". It is a damning indictment of the (then) rapidly growing military industrial complex. The depth of detail present makes it hard for me to doubt Butler's patriotism.
I also think there is a lot more than meets the eye ( and is discussed in history books) about the 1900-1950ish time period...
Anthony C Sutton makes a compelling case that US factions and corporatists built both the USSR and the Third Reich (I believe the book is The Best Enemies Money Can Buy). Another interesting point Sutton makes is that the State Dept. was the fore-runner of the OSS (and CIA) and was the primary intelligence gathering agency before OSS was formed.
"Blacklisted By History" is a fascinating (and not rabidly defamatory as most are) look at Joseph McCarthy, and goes into some detail about the number of proven Communists and Communists sympathizers in the US govt in general, and the State Dept in particular in the 1930-1950 time period. There were many of them, and in very crucial positions.
Consider also the madness of 1945-48; Operation Paperclip and Nazi scientists moved in to the US, as well as the US absorption of the entire Nazi eastern front intelligence operation, including its head Reinhard Gehlen.
The point of all this is to say that I think Butler was right. A fascist (which really just means corporatist) coup was attempted in the 30s. It failed then due to Butlers integrity (and maybe some factional infighting between Reds and Fascists). But looking at the post WW2 years, I think in the end the result was the same as if the coup had occurred, with the added benefit that we the people where none the wiser.
The longer I dig into this stuff, the less I think ideology matters beyond this- either you believe in individual rights and God given freedoms and the Just rule of law, or you don't. And the flavor of how you don't doesn't matter so much (Communism, Socialism, Fascism, Religion of Peace (durka durka), Woke BS, etc.).
All of this evil needs to be rooted out.
In the same time period card carrying technocrats were a party, social engineering because the engineers know best, same as today except ‘they’ve’ got the technology to do it.
Patrick Wood author Technocracy Rising is an excellent read.
