U/GoingCamaro it’s what’s in your heart first that counts. Receiving Jesus and the Holy Spirit is where is begins. Faith comes by hearing the word of God. You can’t “work” your way into the Kingdom by doing “good” without first receiving Jesus and being led by the Holy Spirit to do good works. Works without love is nothing. And Love — truly loving one’s enemies—can only come from a revelation of knowing how much God loves us and has forgiven our sins. Out of that love we can love our enemies, and do good works. And yes, even Satan knows God exists and the power and authority of Jesus Christ.
Nope. Wrong. I reject this 90%. God's love is not dependent on who gets the credit. And this notion that without Jesus you can't learn to love is totally asinine.
You are right, Jesus will judge the heart. And that's where you need to leave it. It is inappropriate for you to label someone's good works as meaningless just because you're insecure about your faith.
Study Jesus a little more closely and you'll start to realize that this whole notion of needing church and all the other made up non-sense is mostly derivative and has been used to take the good things Christ taught and pervert them to sow division.
If what you said was even remotely true, there would be one singular denomination of Christianity. Yet there are thousands because people can't agree on basic level things, but I blame Paul for a lot of that. At the end of the day you claim to follow Jesus, then I hope by your actions that is true and good enough for me.
People can love their enemies without also believing in the Christian God. There's plenty of people who believe in forgiveness, loving your enemy, helping the poor, and being a good example every day without also believing in the Christian God. Morals exist outside of religion, and any moral behavior that exists in Christianity can also exist without belonging to Christianity.
