Funny, when I took Driver's Ed in school I was always told "Ignorance of the law is no excuse for breaking the law." What's not funny is the supposed "stupid" people are the ones who don't get in trouble when they break the law. See James Comey and the "extremely careless" Hildebeast.
Aren't these the same people who claim 45 is evil, dangerous, and a threat? But when it's on the other side, they're just "stoopid", not evil. Argument of convenience.
That is the very argument I get when I even suggest the government's nefarious intentions. "They're not evil, they stooopid."
My usual response, "Why not both?" usually ends with an acknowledgement I could be right. So maddening.
What better way to get away with nefarious actions, than to use a cloak of incompetent stupidity?

OTH,when I tell some 'based' friends "the best is yet to come" they seem to always respond "I hope so"...
I run into the same thing. I will not let other's pessimism or uncertainty get me down π

To which your reply should be...
If they are so stupid then why are you ok with allowing them to run our country?

Sigh, very true.
