I can't ask this anywhere else and not even sure if I can here but here we go. With everything going on like it is, I want to be able to protect my family. My husband has a felony on his record and it will be some years before he can get his gun rights back. I dont want to do anything that will send him to jail, especially when he only has 8 months left of probation, but I want to keep us protected. Does anyone know of any loopholes or what I can do to keep a firearm (or even a few) in prep for what may come.

no offense fren, but this is just the kind of post that will get juicy screenshot for MSM or investigations from the Feds. let's keep this board on topic please.
Guns made before 1899 and Black Powder guns are not subject to an FFL. There's a good video 'An Alternative to Cap & Ball For Self Defense' by the Duelist1954 on You Tube I am not a lawyer and don't know your situation. Check your local and state laws.
Excellent point. Cap and ball revolvers are nothing to sneeze at
Good point! That’s the reason why the Pawn Stars folks don’t buy newer weapons.
set up booby traps in your house kevin mccalister style
I don't believe there are any laws regarding felons and bows. Could be wrong. A bow would be a great self defense weapon if no firearms are available to you
Cross-bows are a helluva weapon, too. good idea. But I don't know if any lethal weapon is forbidden for anyone that is a felon. It would probably be ok for a "hunter" (hunting for home invaders lol) should be able to own one.
I watched Dukes of Hazzard and can confirm.
You win today. That's awesome. The dynamite however...
What are the terms of your husbands parole? It’s my understanding that a felon can’t own a firearm but if a gun is registered in your name and you are the owner of record that may be a loophole. If they say he can’t be near a gun then are they saying he can’t go into a sporting goods store that sells guns? Also, husbands and wives have immunity from testifying against each other. Buy a gun, keep it in a safe, and if the P.O. searches the house tell them it’s your safe and only you know the combination. However, I’m no lawyer so don’t take my suggestions a legal advice.
Just wait until his probation or parole is over with. He can submit to have a firearm after that. Just depends on what state you’re in. I know in Arizona if you have a felony, and you complete all of your terms of your sentencing, you can reapply to have your right to bear arms returned to you.
it's my understanding that any infringement on his right to bear arms only applies to firearms. Bow, blowgun, machete, axe and slingshot are all still on the table. Self-defense is unalienable.
USCCA might be able to help with advice.
Bear spray?
Not sure what state you’re in because the laws do vary, but in NC you would be able to buy a firearm in your name regardless of your husband’s police record. Have you ever handled a gun before? Any kind? I strongly recommend having a shotgun, a pump if possible. Just that sound (y’all know what I’m talking about) has sent someone running in my case. I knew I wouldnt be wasting any buckshot that night!
I'm in Alabama and I've been handling firearms since I was 5 from a 9mm, a .38, up to an AR-15. Same with my husband.
Oh. Yeah. You’re good!
Pretty sure that when probation is over, the no guns for felons rule will still apply.
NOPE
His stipulations, he can get his gun rights back 7 years after probation is over but he has to get his record exponged first which he has the option to do
High powered air rifles. There is a fifty caliber that fires several types of rounds. You pump itn with a tire pump for pressure.
It sounds like a gun when it fires. And it will do the same job.
Bear spray works pretty well to give you enough time to gtfo.
I don't know why someone can't perfect a Nail Gun to shoot a good 100 to 200 yards! Seems to me would be a perfect tool for around the house!
This! ☝️
