It took me a day to think through it but I thought so too. Please vote for Barnette. Kathy needs good citizens to endorse her!
yldngo 1 point 1 day ago +1 / -0 Trump's endorsement of Oz and his denouncing of McCormick will probably result in Barnette winning the primary. Why? Trump has spent the last six years creating an America first/drain the swamp mindset. Barnette is a Pennsylvanian who is not swamp and is a little poor on the stage presence but has the right ideas. Oz is not a Pennsylvanian and has an unimpressive swamp like past. PA patriots are just not going to vote for Oz. I have interacted with quite a few who just do not trust Oz no matter what Trump says. Trump went to Greensburg to encourage these people to vote for Oz AND criticize McCormick. My thought is he endorsed Barnette without endorsing her knowing PA is going to reject Oz. He did this while slamming McCormick and consequently turning voter away toward the 3rd choice Kathy Barnette. Why wouldn't he just endorse her though? When she wins without his endorsement her credit is hers and not his. Same reason he did not endorse Mastriano who is holding his own and doesn't need Trumps endorsement.
You hit what has been my struggle. Why not just endorse her from the start and take credit? We've all spent a lot of time trying to figure out some secret reason Trump is endorsing Oz. The simplest reason is usually the best; Trump is truly endorsing Oz and he's wrong. And Trump did say that Mastriano would make a good governor back when he was supporting the early attempts to reject the electors. That was a decent endorsement that many have remembered.
Not endorsing Kathy keeps a lot of money focused on McCormick and Oz destroying each other. That gives Kathy's low budget relief to focus on advancing and not fighting of dark money. I could be wrong but i"m in PA and am trying to think logically about the bigger context of the Oz endorsement.
It makes no sense though when you see what Trumps endorsement did for JD Vance...and he was kind of the same story with people here warning about him being a snake. But it didnt split votes to make another candidate rise...it shot him to the top. I think the thing that makes the most sense is Trump doesnt always get it right. He is human guys.
Were the ohio voters repulsed by Vance to begin with though? Not just neutral but very much opposed to Vance like a lot are of Oz in PA? That sentiment is why we're having this conversation.
Yeah me too. But Trump touts his whatever and 0 on his endorsements winning. I've thought through all the possibilities, and it doesn't make full sense on endorsing Oz, have him lose, and then the candidate he wants to endorse wins but he can't claim credit for it.
Whoever wins has to be electable by Democrats in the primaries -- and Pittsburgh and Philadelphia have a lot of Dem voters. They're not likely to vote for anyone Trump likes. Oz and McCormick have deep pockets. McCormick has ties back to China:

Trump's endorsement would be a black mark the enemy would never forget and would use against her. He's giving her cover by ignoring her.
He wants to see if we have really become critical thinkers and this is a low cost way to do it. I think to some extent they continue to test if we are really ready to take off the training wheels so to speak.
I believe that this is the Same strategy he's using in the GA governor race, support loser Perdue and let him and traitor Kemp slug it out while outsider/maga Kandiss Taylor moves past them both.
Yes! Mastriano is a beast, too.
Also, if Barnette is on the primary ballot, the Dems are more likely to vote for her if they don't think she's aligned with Trump.
