anything good come out of it? what was the overall bad experience?
I was a flying mechanic on C130s (Dedicated Crew Chief, A&P in the civilian world). I was attached as part of flight crew when we flew missions over there. I honestly believe we did some good deeds in Bosnia in the mid 90s. Almost died a few times flying in and out of there in the cloak of night wearing NVGs, doing assault landings and take offs at night. Getting shot at on the way in. Sitting on my flack vest, feet on top of my helmet, because we did take some bullets through the floor in the cargo area and in the wings. However, I honestly believe that both of my tours in the first 2 Gulf wars was a waste and risk of my life for nothing. A deep state operation on both counts. Fuck the Bush's and the horse they ride! Commie ass hats!
Ah takes me back to military school runs at 530am and following the cadence and chant of our lt Col as as jogged, "c-130 rolling down the strip! Airborne daddy gonna take a little trip! Sound off! 1...2.... Sound off! 3... 4...."
Thank you for your service, sir. At least it made you a better man than most o7
5:30? You got to sleep in! We had to be in formation for PT by 4:30 π¬
I just wanna say I by no means have came ever close to serving... but it gives me hope to see a comment chain like this. To know folks that have been inside of that beast are part of this community just shows what kind of community this is.
A long read, and one that's very unsettling to most of us as it challenges our deeply held beliefs:

Wow! I was just thinking the other day about how no one is entirely evil just like no one is all good. Left me some room to digest, thanks!
Thank you for your service. I hold the deepest gratitude for our military personnel - past, present, and future. This is why we have remained a free country. I am sorry you had to endure what you did and then to find the lies behind it. Itβs garbage. Those DS assholes need to be held accountable! God bless you!
Thank you all for saying these things. I sincerely appreciate it and I am humbled everytime I hear it. You don't have to thank me. I was just doing what any real American would have done. You (you guys and gals) are helping me keep my sanity. I've only been awake since about 2008. And it's been a slow awakening. Once you realize you were doing things for the wrong side (evil) it's disheartening.
You thought you were doing the right thing. They are liarsβ¦not your fault. Love you β€οΈ
I thought you were in Iraq too?
Yes. We spent a lot of time flying missions in and out. Most of that time was on missions flying in and out supporting the Marines and Army on the ground, re-supply missions or Drops. We were/are the "pick-up trucks" of the Air Force. Not sure how much detail I can get into talking about it. I was part of flight crew, carried a Secret security clearance and was always at the intel briefings before major drops/flights. I share brief stories with family and friends. I always try to be vague and not too specific (for obvious reasons). It was an interesting time. No regrets. Knowing what I know now, I would not do it again. As stated above, Bosnia was the only big mission I was apart of where I felt like we were doing "the right thing".
Semper Fi friend.
Probably that he came out alive... Otherwise nothing good comes of war when you are on the side of the worst guys
It was a quick deployment for me to find out angels exist!
