As a tech nerd, I've lost my job several times to these H1-Bs. My favorite story is the most recent one. This place laid off the entire tech department in order to replace us all with cheaper H1-Bs. Once the foreign workers took over everything fell apart. They managed to crash the financial software and they lost 9 years worth of required (by the govt) financial data. It took them over a month to even get the financial software working again. A MONTH. Accounting was doing everything by hand...in pen. The workers also couldn't write SQL reports and they were rude to the workers that called in for help - especially the women. All in all the higher ups (including the CEO/CFO) ended up losing their jobs over it.
its intentional I believe...never been in said tech industry myself, from other business venture tho we call this "plausible deniably" ohhh nooo's all the data is gone ...well guess were in the clear wink wink...
Yeah the line in the parent comment
Stood out as very inaccurate lol.
Haha agreed! You get what you pay for.
Can you tell us what H1-B stands for?
Overview The H-1B program applies to employers seeking to hire nonimmigrant aliens as workers in specialty occupations or as fashion models of distinguished merit and ability. A specialty occupation is one that requires the application of a body of highly specialized knowledge and the attainment of at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent. The intent of the H-1B provisions is to help employers who cannot otherwise obtain needed business skills and abilities from the U.S. workforce by authorizing the temporary employment of qualified individuals who are not otherwise authorized to work in the United States.
The law establishes certain standards in order to protect similarly employed U.S. workers from being adversely affected by the employment of the nonimmigrant workers, as well as to protect the H-1B nonimmigrant workers. Employers must attest to the Department of Labor that they will pay wages to the H-1B nonimmigrant workers that are at least equal to the actual wage paid by the employer to other workers with similar experience and qualifications for the job in question, or the prevailing wage for the occupation in the area of intended employment – whichever is greater.

Thanks for the explanation. Judging from the others who contributed on this thread, these employers violate the law. We need to go after these employers. How can they come in and fire everyone in that position and verify they followed the provision for "protect similarly employed U.S. workers from being adversely affected by the employment of the nonimmigrant workers"
Couldn't agree with you more! Unfortunately there's a loophole written in:
*It allows H-1B reliant companies to ignore the requirements about protecting American jobs as long as they pay the foreign workers at least $60,000 a year, or hire a foreign worker with a master’s degree *
In my most recent lay off (that I was referring to above) all of the foreign workers had master's degrees...isn't that convenient?
