Well regulated means properly functioning. A well regulated clock keeps time like it’s supposed to. A well regulated engine runs properly; doesn’t misfire. Has literally nothing to do with rules. And the “militia” was all men of arms bearing age. From 15-16 to 60+
see that's the issue again, in the meaning of words having changed. A militia isn't necessarily an organised group that we think of as a militia. In this context it meant men of arms-bearing age. That's the point the guy is making.
Yes. And it mean effectiveness. Not state mandated oversight. The founders didn't want men to be showing up to face common enemies with crappy turkey shooters (or weapons for deer as Biden would want). Founders wanted the common man (who isnt blind or retarded) to have unrestricted access to the best man-killing guns.
Every single state and the federal government have a militia statute that defines the milita. It is divided into 2 parts - (1) the organized militia and (2) the unorganized militia. The organized militia now consists of the national guard. The unorganized militia consists of all able bodied “residents” of varying ages depending on jurisdiction and if prior military service. Feds are 18-45 with up to 65 with prior military service. Some states start at 17 and go up to 45 with 65 if prior military service.
These are not limitations; rather, this is who is for sure is getting called up should the need arise. Note “resident” and not “citizen.” Every able bodied lawful resident of a state of the appropriate age is subject to militia service. Being subject to militia service does not mean there is a “restricted from” militia service as a result of the former - although some states do exempt state and local law enforcement and some political bodies from being subject to militia service.

Of course. I'm medically exempt from the draft; if any state were to try to draft me, I'd do everything legal under the sun to make sure I don't need to do anything.

Exactly, like a well-regulated pantry , or food supply. There is no doubt that is what is meant.

That included cannons too. In that age, many cannons were privately owned.
So by the Constitution, yes - we should be privately allowed to own ANY arms the military has.

What percentage over 50 are federal and state and local police members of those militias?
