I think materiality was a big factor in this case. That was the intellectual out for a jury predisposed to acquit, and it's true the pedo FBI was in on the scheme from the get go.
I still think the verdict just didn't matter much, and the plan moves forward regardless of what happened to Sussman. The real developments are from the testimony given and evidence offered.
