Dating apps also do a great job of that. Their algorithm is not designed to bring together people for dating. All they do is make people give up on dating. There are many bots that can have enough of a conversation to convince someone they're human. Then the guy or girl gets ghosted by the bot and loses confidence. They wonder why this keeps happening. Why do they suddenly stop talking to me?
They give up on dating. It's by design.
Wow. I had no idea. A buddy of mine frequents dating sites; it doesn't seem to affect him, and he ends up meeting them in person as often as he wants. He also says he's immune to bitcoin, and enjoys trolling some of those scammers. OTOH, it hasn't given him fulfillment either.
Eharmony was started by a Christian, specifically to help with that. I met a lawyer who told me he had worked with the founder (or at least his firm did), who didn't want to accommodate same-sex searches. He eventually did, but only after being sued. Made me think that if I ever went that route, I'd start there.
Eharmony was also full of bots and fakes as of @ 1 year ago.
I went on one date from Eharmony - an unemployed single mother whose black ex husband left in 2020 and his Black Hebrew National cult buddies were after her at one point in 2021. She kept chest wound bandages in her car. We went on one date and she said she enjoyed it but right before date 2 I get told I'm not "as ambitious as her" and "being a tradwife I need to have someone to challenge me to be my best."
Still wanted me to go with her 2 hrs away to help her pick a handgun out. Unvaxxed too. I dipped. Good luck with that girlfriend. Make sure to keep the chest wound bandages up to date. If you can discern my ambition level after 1 date, good for you; but only ONE OF US had a job when we met...lol

I also bet for every successful "hook up" he had ten times the number of fails. He likely had to swipe a lot to get those hook ups on the site he frequents.

That's also the problem. People who want to date and make families will almost never succeed on those apps. Cheap, meaningless sex, sure. Actual relationship. Forget it.
No, that's not him. He just meets them at restaurants, and none have worked out. I think he uses FB. He has told me about the bots and scammers though, so yeah, lots more failures than anything else.
Dating apps should not be taken as a serious method of dating anyways.
