Plus, the currency is NO GOOD!! Demand gold or say "no." Bwahahahaha...
Was thinking the same. I’ve got a few with rust on them I’d sell for a cool 100k or so. I’ll take cash, and then immediately buy hard currency with it.
Tungsten is far more similar to gold in density than lead, so watch what the purity test requires. Bsize and weight are usually good indicators but with tungsten that can be faked almost to the T. If you drill, not all of the bar may be filled, so you have to drill in several locations.
There are electronic testers that may fare better.
I was pretty amazed when I first learned that tungsten and gold have essentially the same density; I was always under the impression that no other metal (except possibly radioactive ones :) ) had such a high density.
Hah me too! When I first compared a silver ounce round (non government minted coin for those who don't know) to a gold round I was like wtf?
That's what gives gold coins their out-of-this-world sounding ping when you balance and flick them and it resonates for an eternity.
Haha yeah that's why I own no big bars. Largest bars I have are 10 oz silver bars and 20oz Scottsdale mint kit Kat bars (I love those)
I have a few small denomination gold coins and a 1 oz 100 Corona restrike but the large majority if my gold is in jewlery that I paid spot price + 5-12% over for in terms of gold content.
My magnum opus is a 103 gram 24k necklace, that golden glow of 24k and the thickness + weight of it on my neck is something to behold.
I'm currently wearing 3 necklaces and 3 bracelets, I do wear some of my stash a lot xD
I've sold necklaces for far more than I paid, I remember buying a 25 inch 14k rope chain for $450 and flipped it for $620 a week later. But I hate selling my stash because whenever I sell I immediately feel the need to replace what I sold xD
