The weight of the jockey has an impact. Women are lighter than men of a similar size. A female jockey would have an unfair advantage against male jockeys. You ever see jockeys? They're already very small men.
Okay, you non-horse people. Race officials STRICTLY monitor the weight that racehorses carry. The horses will wear weights in their saddle pads so that all horses carry the same weight. Jockeys have to officially WEIGH IN with their saddles before every race. The extra weights are added for the lighter weight jockeys. There is a weight limit, of course, so only small people can be jockeys. There are races that are "handicapped" so that faster horses will have to carry more weight to make a more even playing field for betters.
I assumed all the jockey’s weighed around the same weight, though I know nothing about horse racing or jockey’s, but if she weighed the same what difference does it make if the horse is doing the running? In women’s or men’s races (running, biking, swimming, gymnastics, etc.), I agree the opposite sex should not be aloud. I think it’s a disgrace they even allow it.
My point is this: If you had a choice of watching women jockeys on faster horses or men jockeys on slower horses, wouldn't you choose the faster horse regardless of who was riding the horse?
People watch the NBA over the WNBA because the game is better, not because they hate women.
My point is this: Horse racing to me seems to be a sport where women can be pretty damn close to equal to men if they weigh the same.
Why? The horse is doing all the work.

^ This guy doesn't horse around
Yee-haw!
Same for racing drivers.

Horse racing requires a certain weight of the jockey and they will add weight if the jockey is lighter.

Is there a "league" of only women jockey race horses? If what you are saying is true, than wouldn't their (the horses) times be faster?
Because if this was true then all jockeys would be women (because the horses would be faster), right?
Now that I don't know. What I do know is you don't have any 6'5" 280 lb jockeys.

And I can back it up!:

27% is a pretty high number if you consider the danger involved.
