What is this thread all about?
Just a place for general discussion. A place to unload whats on your mind and talk about anything - personal, health, help needed, achievements, daily highs and daily lows, theories, predictions and what have you.
Does not need to be Q related.
It's crazy how appreciation for musical style evolves with you, isn't it? Lately I'm big into grunge, and Chris Cornell (RIP, you angel) being the inspiration to pull me out of my lol and feeling inspired again. I'll look into joining a choir, it can be that nudge to get me into going to church again :)
I'm a Christian by faith, but raised a Catholic and jaded with churches in general for the better part of 10 years.
When you realize that the problem with organized religion lies within « organized »… it’s better not to have someone dictate how you should feel.
Catechism should keep its goals to teaching that « the man is able to reach God » which basically defines Faith and « Love each other as I love you all » which is the best basis to define Good vs Bad. I like Shintoism as it goes with spirits instead of a single deity: spirit of the forest, of friendship, of rice, of music… By granting such a spirit (or a Godly Touch) to every little nice thing (abstract, material…), you notice them differently and increase your peace of mind.
Musically speaking, I began by both the Beatles, my sister’s 70s rock albums and a few Top50 songs in my early teen years, then I went to hard rock (Iron Maiden, Slayer -from Reign in Blood onwards-, Manowar, Metallica’s -first 3 albums-), then a friend introduced me to Zappa and Magma, then I noticed I liked solo Cello works (especially Zoltan Kodaly or the Britten/Shostakovitch works…). Now I am into classical piano (Liszt played by Cziffra, or Bach by Glenn Gould), in parallel with Symphonic progressive metal (Dream Theater, Nightwish, Sabaton) and also oddities such as Tuuletar (👉🏻 https://youtu.be/qz_uq7ypZnc ) or Ichika Nito on Youtube…
Music is a beautiful kaleidoscopic journey with no end.
This thread really brightened my morning. Cheers.
So cool to see a little thread about music! It has such a huge influence on so many, and can be like therapy, getting us through hard times. I'm lucky to be at a point where me and my wife play music together for 4-5 hours a day, and have a sweet gig on Fridays and Saturdays.
That is awesome, my friend moved to Virginia from my urban metropolis corner of America and the amount of people who jam out there is astonishing. Very approachable people, too, chill vibes from what I hear from him.
He's also lived in Nashville area but the way he speaks about Virginia is like his soul found his home.
Haha yeah I like this idea of a casual thread to just talk about anything.
