Considering the only reason D.C still exists in itβs present form and therefore has the population to make this bid is mostly because the Politicos in Baltimore didnβt want another heavily populated area interfering with their control over Maryland State Politics.
As a thought experiment: if DC was made into a state, how would that affect the USA corporation? Would it affect the laws. At the moment DC acts like a federal government that lords it over the other states. If it becomes a state the balance changes. One state cannot tell other states what to do.
Good points. I am sure the dems think it will add two guaranteed dem Senators, which it would. You are right though. How could one state rule them all? It can't according to our constitution.
Of course, we have a lawless unconstitutional regime right now though.
But if the 51st star is symbolic of what is to come, it will negate the Federal government thingie they are all so enamored with. which would be very interdasting. Maybe.

All offices attached to the seat of government shall be exercised in the District of Columbia, and not elsewhere, except as otherwise expressly provided by law.
