The vet usually prescribes Heartguard which is ivermectin but they charge a fortune. Can I dose my own dog with my ivermectin? Wondering if any of you pedes can help

Been doing it for years with my bird dogs. It is .1cc for every ten pounds of body weight. A fifty pound dog gets a half cc. I use the cattle injectable, and just put it on some canned dog food. Drip it around a meal sized feeding so they don't get a concentrated taste.
Don't give them the Ivomec pour on for sheep. I've used that in water for my other animals, but I have never seen reliable information on a dosage for dogs, and the pour on also has something that allows it to penetrate the skin which might not be good for a dog.
THIS (from Tractor Supply) is what I have been giving my dogs for years. I'm not wasting my money on all the office fees just to get a scrip for the over priced stuff. 1 ml per 10 pounds of body weight mixed with food once a month. A little extra won't hurt. I give my 70 pound dog 9ml usually.

No. Apparently fatal for dogs. I read that somewhere
Read more. It is dangerous for dogs with a certian gene, such as collies. A perfect example of why medical professionals are helpful in prescribing drugs.
If doctors weren't so brainwashed, we wouldn't be up against these risks.
As it stands, anyone who thinks to take an off-label drug, or administer to a pet, should read the scientific literature and MSDS. There is a ton of information to be had.
Border collies and maybe aussies too
