Carving up the country into nine nation-states will have the same outcome that carving up Africa after WW1 and WW2 had.
You simply can't force cultures onto one another. The borders of each State are as holy to their loyal citizens as the hem-lines on the Shroud of Turin. You can argue the authenticity, but it's best not to monkey with it on the off chance we'd mess it up.
For clarity, I'm not proposing this and am not a proponent. But I could see it happening. I can also see total chaos ensuing if we did that, as we would see (as you wrote) an influx of foreign invaders and a significant drop in purchasing power, etc.
It's just a complicated thing, and while it may be a good short-term thing, the results are potentially disastrous.
Again, I'm fine with secession, but only if it's amicable. I'm sure Texas would be fine on its own, but not in a situation where the other 49 states turn hostile on account of it leaving.
Understand that while the left are currently unhinged lunatics, it's not always been that way. Once upon a time the average liberal could make rational arguments.
Having someone push against you allows you to look at the entire situation with clarity. A devil's advocate is sometimes necessary to make informed decisions.
Socialism and Capitalism are like the Left and Right hands. In order to hold something large, like a large ball, you need them to squeeze it evenly. If one side squeezes too tightly, you drop the ball.
Socialism squeezing too hard is Communism. Capitalism squeezing too hard is Corporatism/Fascism.
When the ball pops, you have a Totalitarian Dictatorship. Either hand can pop the ball, it just so happens the Left hand has sharper nails while the Right has a firmer grasp.

We agree.

Yeah, I understand we're on the same page.

I am still a big proponent of rounding up all of the Leftards and putting them on a barge and pushing that barge into the shipping lanes.
Strangely, some people think this would be mean. But also I don't care.
Maybe we could be really nice and move them all to where they really belong. The Island of Misfit Toys.
The same island where they sent hula hoops, clackers and lawn darts.
