It's funny ...

Everybody seems to have "fascist" wrong. The schools, the media, everyone seems to be clueless about where that word comes from.

The original meaning is "bundle," as in "together we are strong."

The movement was specifically anti-communist, to oppose the "divide and conquer" strategy of the dirty commies.
