I've been avoiding it due to the woke-turn moves have taken in the last 5-10 years. I did like Top Gun, but can any anons say if it's really good (no woke+great movie), soso (some woke+not great) or woke( woke + bad story)?
Just saw it last night and it’s really enjoyable. The flying scenes are incredible. The woke stuff is minimal. One of the dozen young aviators is female, but it’s not obnoxious feminism. Besides, I’ve heard that women’s low center of gravity can help them withstand G forces, so it makes more sense for them to be pilots/ aviators than hand-to-hand commandos throwing around big dudes. The team is multi racial with whites, blacks, latins, and at least one asian. None of them act “woke” and are all likable as young and competitive loyal members of the Navy.
Besides the international enemies of the mission, the antagonists are the Navy admirals who have a different vision of the future of the Navy and the mission. Ed Harris wants to replace manned flight with drones, so he wants to phase out old aviators such as Maverick. Jon Hamm wants to reduce the parameters of the mission so that the aviators would have an easier opportunity to complete the first two phases, but would become more likely to be shot down afterwards. It’s up to Maverick not to let them get sacrificed. So the political struggle is personal rather than ideological.
It's just landed on my to-watch list thanks to your review, anon.
Try and watch it in D Box or the seats that move. Well worth the extra bucks.
As above Anon says, yeah, there are various races and a female pilot but their race or gender never come into question or become a plot point.
I enjoyed it too. The only symbolism I remember seeing was the “33” - when Tom was flying the last plane he was running low on ammo and he only had 33 bullets left 🤷🏼♀️
Tom looked an awful lot like Charlie Sheen in this movie (my opinion)
Charlie Sheen was pretty well cast as Topper Harley in Hot Shots
Pretty much my take on it too. As for the female pilot I didn't think twice about it, probably just because I have met many over the years at various air shows and what not.
No woke, better than Top Gun. I went to see Maverick then came home and watched TG. I had more of a problem with the blasphemy (Tom C. constantly using JESUS CHRIST as a cuss word in TG. Not so in Maverick.
"Top Gun: Maverick" is Military Propaganda. Official Documents Prove It:

Ummm, well, ya, pro American Military movies are almost always made that way. It's been that way for many decades. It's a win win if you think abou it.
The part where they practice docking for 18 hours 🤣
The wife wasn't into it but it was so stupid I couldn't stop laughing. I remember being 8 or 9 watching it on MTV with my dad before he passes. He was not a man for laughs but the bastard couldn't help but chuckle at those two.
Yep I'm waiting on the movie reviews that sometimes flow through this place before I waste my time.
The most woke part happens at a bar, and involves a bell being rung because, "muh feminism." It annoyed me quite a bit but it didn't ruin the film by any means.
I hate to be Mr Poopy Pants here but isnt this just pro war propaganda, an effort to make war sexy again right as our leaders are trying to ignite WW3 in Ukraine/Europe?
Nothing from Hollywood is good.. It is all poisoned.
I mean its Tom Cruise ffs, poster boy of the scientologist lunatics and 100% committed to the globalist agenda. This film must somehow serve "the agenda" in one way or another otherwise it wouldn't have been financed/made... Hollywood is Hollywood after all.
I just wanted to point that out before we all start worshipping Tom Cruise or something...
Perhaps. But i think its important to be patriotic about our armed forces who swear to defend us with their lives. Maybe the timing is sketchy but i see nothing that hypes up any specific war, the main conflict in the movie is nuclear materials being transported to a refinery and they gotta blow up the refinery before its delivered. So even if youre right that its subliminal brainwashing the content of the movie promotes preventing war with sneaky accurate strikes.
I dont like cruise either. But it would be very weird and the movie probably would have flopped if they diddnt use the same actors and actresses as the first top gun.
The enemies are more vaguely Chinese or North Korean than Russian. The movie was delayed for over a year, so it was written and shot before the Ukrainian situation.
Nope! Fuck Tom Cruise, and fuck PedoWood. Not giving them a fucking dime.
me too, wtf is everyone watching all this crap for and supporting the evil? wtf
Because Americans love patriotism
ok, but why support them? just like watching sports that all kneeled ... whatever
Don't ask me. I didn't pay to see it and wouldn't anyway. Cruise is a geeked out basket case.
I don't know but it could be because they saw it and are saying it isn't projecting evil. And when that's the case, sometimes the cinematic experience of special effects, excitement, tricks, stunts, danger, etc., is entertaining and memorable. (I hope they're using stage blood!)
Top Gun air sequences rocked, so... based on all the based anons' positive reviews here I'll give the sequel a "shot" Friday night and find out for sure - if it's not pro-cabal or anti-patriot, that in itself will be impressive!
sad that anybody is paying to support this crap
You're calling it crap, but a whole bunch of GreatAwakening board members—who have actually SEEN the movie—are in accord that it isn't crap. They report that it is pro-America, pro-Navy, etc. In your mind, why are they saying this, if it actually is an America-bashing, mind-warping wokefest? Do you have anything like a reasonable explanation?
I doubt it. So, based on the positive reports from fellow patriots, my wife and I are ignoring your entrenched negativity and instead going to enjoy the hell out of the cinematic experience on Saturday night. I'll be back next week with my report.

that's my problem ... those that have seen it ... shouldn't have gone to see it
good movie bad movie, doesn't matter, why are any of you supporting hollyweirdo's ... everything from them is crap
shame on all of you
Actually, shame on you for being so negative about something that people who've actually seen it are strongly positive about.
The difference between us is I don't look down on anyone who doesn't watch or doesn't enjoy this film, but you look down on anyone who does.
Look I get it, some people just don't like movies, others don't like basketball, ballet, or auto racing. Each to his own. Live and let live, lady.
shame on you for supporting their crap ... shame on all of you
Let me ask you a question, fren: who the hell are you to think you should be telling others here what they should and shouldn't do?
Listen, pal, I'm the only authorized patriot asshole here and you're twisting up my game.
Smoke a joint, reread some Q posts and slow your roll.
so its ok to tell me what to do, huh? and ya, no MAGA people should be watching any hollyweirdo's ... truth hurts? i do not care
Go see it
Incredible movie! Rare instance of a sequel being better than the original!
Best movie since Endgame. Nothing much good between those two movies.
No woke and a GREAT movie
Well worth seeing in theaters due to all the great action footage! It hits all the right notes from the last one without dwelling on it. A movie that can be enjoyed by men and women, young and old. Music soundtrack was great too!
Also I felt the love interest (Jennifer Connelly) had more chemistry with Cruise than Kelly McGillis did.
Thoroughly enjoyed it without having it make me "support war in Ukraine." lol.
this is a white hat movie, I made a post about it a few weeks back:
