There are some images floating around already of the weapon on the ground. Looks like a home made shotgun/blunderbus using two pipes held together with tape and some kind of grip. He was able to shoot whatever was in both pipes.
My brothers and I used to make pipe bombs. I think we stopped doing that after the last one we made blew a crater in the yard about 12 feet wide and 2 feet deep. I wish I were joking.

From less than 30 feet, yes.
Accuracy at over 50 feet is probably compromised.
Why go to all the trouble of making a gun from scratch when you could 3D print one?
