Copying this comment I made on an earlier post concerning Russia and the biolabs:
"I find it interesting that Trump has been saying that the situation in Ukraine could escalate into nuclear war. What if Russia's attempts to resolve this biolab situation through the UN fail (it probably will)? How many countries would be willing to stand behind the US in a nuclear standoff if it is proven that our current "leadership" is responsible for the engineering and release of covid? Why has Putin been showing off all of those fancy new missiles these past few years?"
Russia has us beat hands down in the hypersonic ICBM department, saw a report just this morning stating USA + 5Is latest hypersonic test failed. Nuclear Parity is still a long way off, Putin holds the upper hand.
The best the US in its proxy war can do, is keep the printing press running and find hypersonic ability or alternative ways to defeat russian ICBM superiority.

In 2 months there may still be a few on board, in 6 months those foolish enough to stay without the realization of nuclear parity will be broke, starved, and shivering.
In between those two time frames without parity most will join Multipolar in persecuting the USA and remaining allies.
Not that there isn't enough evidence past and present to convict the US + allies of war crimes, treaty violations, human rights abuses etc. but a international kangaroo court will convene, convict and sentence, reparations on and disarmament of the US, then the real robbery will commence.
If we look to history, all of the americas will be broken up into smaller nation states controled and structured like the EU.

Everyone's calculating absorbing that first strike, think anyone in the northern hemisphere above ground will survive? (Not that I'm a ICBM guy, but with the little I do know Russia has some real monsters)

Absorbing the first strike (against military targets primarily) with a survivable retaliatory capability has been U.S. strategic posture since the 1960s with Gen. Curtis LeMay. The Russians have no use for Mutual Assured Destruction; they are interested in a counter-military strike. Their metric is the "correlation of forces," which is how they stand vs. the U.S. after the first exchange. There are not enough nuclear weapons in either arsenal to threaten more than 20% of each other's population, even if we wanted to. Too many small targets. Don't confuse Russian practical strategy with U.S. melodrama fantasies of total destruction.

All ICBMs are hypersonic (Mach 25 at re-entry). The current popular terminology pertains to re-entry vehicles that can assume aerodynamic trajectories after re-entry, for purposes of trajectory concealment.
If they are targeted, they are targeted also by interceptors that are hypersonic. At the speeds they are moving, it is a tricky game. We knew how to do this in the 1960s. Improved performance makes a hit-to-kill feasible (but I'm still up for a low-yield nuke).
