Have a parent on fixed income that uses insulin daily. Due to the inflation and the increase in the cost of insulin, he’s having a harder and harder time affording it. $357 per month for just the insulin at Walmart when it used to be nearly free under trump. Anyone have any ideas on what he can do or where he could look to get a better price? I know this isn’t the typical type of post on this site, but I love him and want to help- and you guys are the smartest ppl I know

Humalog $35 a vial in Mexico. Tresiba $30 per 100 unit pen. If you're close to a border, well worth the trip, if not, buying a plane ticket for a vacation and prescription run is worth it.
Yeah, my parents could use a vacation for sure. You know how people were buying IVM online from india… I wonder if he could do the same thing for insulin?
Probably not, temperature fluctuations destroy the quick acting insulin.
Good point
Absolutely could. Don't worry about the temperature, it takes a lot before insulin goes bad. I've been Type 1 diabetic for over 30 years, and I think I've bad vials only twice in all that time, and they came that way from the pharmacy.
Does his doctor or hospital have a geriatric nurse who works as an ombudsman with patients having any kind of problems? Mine does, she's paid for by Medicare. If so, they will help if there's any kind of program for getting free or reduced cost meds through the pharm companies.
Also, find any free medical clinics in your area. They can and will help too.
Okay, I will look into this. Thank you!!
Kites Hams has a milder country ham for real ham newbies. I think they have the best hams.

I believe sam's club has Humalog cheap.
Ok thank you! That would be a very easy thing to check in to ❤️
I've heard that if you ask a pharmacist if there are any ways to get a drug cheaper they can help you, but they're not allowed to offer you these options unless you specifically ask them.
It's a slimy game they play, I know, but it might be worth a try to see if you can get a better price.
I had him call his insurance today and see if they knew anything, and he just called and said they found him a different brand for $22 per month! It’s insane he has been paying such a high amount for the past year, but that’s the bullshit industry of big pharma for you. Thank all of you for your help
Glad to hear you found a MUCH cheaper alternative. They're content to let you pay outrageous prices so long as you're willing to put up with it.
If you switch the type of insulin, it can be much cheaper. They have insulin vials at $25 each for Novolin R. You have to inject about 30 minutes in advance, and the effectiveness occurs over a different time curve, but once you get the hang of it, you can certainly make it work. Good luck!
Reminder: type 2 diabetes is completely the fuck optional. I'm very frustrated because my mother chooses diabetes....
This is fucking retarded. Are you a physician? I didn't think so.
Studies have found that losing enough weight to decrease the fat surrounding and choking out the pancreas by one or two grams causes it to begin producing insulin. However in the process of losing that weight around that one gland the person often loses upward of forty pounds.
Really? Which studies are those exactly? Can you link them here?
Yes.
