Can I nominate Animal Farm as a kid-friendly (but not little kids ... Maybe 9 or 10 and up) lesson on communism? Or just read the novel together as a family.
I read the book in 5th grade, it was burned permanently into my young brain that COMMUNISM BAD.

I'll never forget the horrific images created in my mind of the horse getting sent off to the glue factory or the pigs dressing like humans.
Also check out Mr. Jones. About the journalist that uncovered the holodomor, who's close friend was a young George Orwell and used it as the inspiration for Animal Farm.

There is a new film adaptation currently in the works. I prefer the book to any of the existing films 👍
Which version? The old animated one, or the 1990s made-for-TV movie using actual animals?
I was thinking the old 2D animated one. I didn't even know there was one from the 1990s.
Good, because apparently the animated one is far superior.
FYI an anon book club just sprang into existence. I've never read animal farm either. Let's add it to the list.
