Me too but it is still fucking miserably hot outside. I work outdoors and start at 6 am to avoid the extreme late afternoon work.
Garden has all but died from the heat. Needs to be constantly watered just to hang on and most plants don’t produce in this heat.
Trees here leaves are turning brown already from drought. They go dormant to try to avoid death but some die. Still cleaning up from the frozen rain winter of hell where we lost more trees and limbs from the north side of the trees that took the brunt of the ice.
If they are “messing” with the weather they need to be stopped.
Texas same— lived in west Texas for years - no AC just cheap box fans in the window to move the hot air around- cold as crap in winter with only a fireplace in main room- rest of the house was cold AF
All well and good if that's what you are used to - we are not. We are not geared up for extremes, few places have air con. On my last visit to the Algarve the temp was
24c/72F; summer wear for visitors while the locals still wore sweaters and coats.
It's easy for people that live in warmer climates to mock the UK, but I think we should be more empathetic.
Different regions of the world are more accustomed to different weather patterns. The Northern USA is well prepared for snow, so it's largely a non-issue, but the Southern USA shuts down at even the potential for snow, because they don't have the infrastructure and investment in snow removal.
Likewise here, the UK is not accustomed to excessive heat. The article linked says the vegetation dried out and spread fires, and I suspect many buildings are not equipped with air conditioning. These are not issues for warmer climates which have vegetation adapted to heat and buildings with air conditioning.
It was 106 degrees yesterday in north Texas. Big whoop.

Welcome to the midwest in July.🙄 I'm so sick of fear porn brought to us by the lying liars.

Exactly. I managed to survive but it was exhausting. People in poorly built homes fared worse.
