If China is #1 it may be due to a shortage of women as large numbers of girls get aborted.

Not an interesting, and quite possibly inaccurate report. Of course countries with bigger populations will have the most by raw count.

Israel has far and away the largest gay population ratio-wise. Last I saw, 15% of the Israeli population is gay.
