Be careful with grapefruit and certain drugs.
Why? I heard one doctor say that that the inside of grapefruit peel has quercetin.
Grapefruit have certain enzymes that interfere with the digestion and absorbsion of many compounds(may also react with certain molecules and change them into something a lot less or more medicinal(either way, not a good thing)).
Pineapple juice also do some funky things to many organic chemical compounds(they use it to make meat tenderizer so....)
I always liked grapefruit. Gee
Grapefruit tastes horrible, but I kinda like it too.
LOVE the ruby red ones. to die for
I know. I'm the same way, especially red grapefruit.
It does, but there is an enzyme in grapefruit which delays metabolization of certain drugs in the liver. That can lead to toxicity or overdosing of whatever drug over time if daily grapefruit is consumed. It's significant enough that pharmacies put warnings on the bottle. Including narcotics. Junkies drink grapefruit juice to prolong the high.
I don't take any drugs so I won't worry about grapefruit.
Substitute with juniper berries and ethanol
... on crushed ice of course.
I prefer a twist of lime this way 🍸
I like limes better too.
Never had a hangover with Bombay + Schweppes.
HEB has a pretty decent copy of Schweppes.
Maybe its just me, but Gilbey’s has always been well worth the purchase when you can find it. Maybe I am not a connoisseur but I have had my share of the popular high end labels.
The worst hangover was from Tanqueray Gin.
There IS chemistry to hangovers -- fusel alcohol impurities.
that would be one helluvah summer drink ;-O
AKA gin and tonic.
fwiw --- I never caught covid.
me either and I drink beer (vitamin B)
"Be careful with grapefruit and certain drugs." Better yet look at your drugs! what are they really made of, what are all the side effects and the side effects with the other prescribed "Drugs", is their alternative therapies. I'll bet if you look hard enough you will find alternatives. Not meant as a dig on anyone, just a suggestion.
What the fuck is diet tonic water, other than tonic water?
they sell it - I guess they put sugar or sugar substitute in everything these days
https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/agricultural-and-biological-sciences/grapefruit-juice
the point is one still needs the quinine. try Tonic water for a small dose, but watch out, if it has sugar in it. It can be addictive. Use it if you are sick, not all the time.
Thanks
All these educated anons :)
LOL professor Search Engine...
Well you'll note the actual professors are dropping dead
I believe you should only drink enough to reach the theraputic dose of quinine relative to your weight. This seems dangerous
