If you ever get bitten by one of those, make a paste with activated charcoal. Put it on bite. Leave it on for 4 hours (it's done all it will do up to 4 hours, after that it doesn't really do anymore). I know first hand it works. But, you have to do it right away.
Activated charcoal is very good at absorbing toxins so makes sense. :)
They are some nasty spiders ...thank you for this info
Yw. Just make sure it is activated charcoal. Not the grilling type.
Is there a way to activate charcoal? What's the difference between activated and normal?
Best way for me to answer is to give you this to read https://preparednessadvice.com/activated-charcoal-vs-charcoal/ I guess if you only had regular charcoal it might help but wouldn't be as effective as carbonated
Thank you , my brother got bit two different times ..the second bite was horrific infected like a boil , till this day that area on his leg is a numb nasty scar, he has no feeling on that area of his leg , about the size of baseball!
I still every so often, get a sharp pain where I was bit. When I look around I usually find a spider near by. It is weird. I have spidey senses now.
Does the charcoal paste draw out the venom? My grandmother got bit by one of those suckers once and it was pretty gnarly. We have a rattlesnake bite kit, it could work to draw out venom from a spider bite, maybe.
I just hope that sucker didn't have any brothers or sisters.
I don't know if the snake bite thing will do the same. I got bite by brown recluse years ago. It bite me in bed while I was sleeping. I'm a hard sleeper. It woke me up. It Hurt!!! I must of smashed it. I found it 2 days later on the floor up against the wall. I didn't know what bite me till then. But, I did know it must have been a spider. I didn't know about the charcoal thing till much later. It was too late for me by then. I had a huge area on my leg where the skin was raw and and dissolving like. The doctor put me on antibiotics. Not much more they could do but I kept putting some type of ointment on it. The pain kept shooting down my leg. It was like 6 months till it finally started healing.
I did research and came across charcoal solution. It was too late for me to use it. But, my dog got bit on her tail. She went to lie down and she screamed. Started running in circles with her tail down to her side. I looked where she had lied down and saw it. I knew what to do. I had some activated charcoal from a fish tank. It wasn't used. I used a mortar and pestle to grind it and added a little water to make paste. I could see the bite. it was swelling. I put the paste on it and used one of those bandages that you wrap around that sticks to itself to hold the paste on. I took it off after 4 hours and there was no swelling and little spot of red where it bit her. She never had any skin die around that spot. It worked.
thanks much for this info/advice...i sent this info to a dog/horse sanctuary nearby, along with a pound of activated charcoal powder...good to share info!
Wow, that is wonderful that you did that. Good to know they have that on hand if and when they may need it. I'm excited that info I had, might help an animal rescue, because of you. Ty so much for doing that.
Good dog owner :)
