Most diesel refineries are on the east coast and will be shut down by October. Someone in the business said a chemical necessary to the process will be gone by then due to “supply chain issues.” I do know that that was one of the things the railroads were going to quit shipping.
Sorry I don’t have more substantial information. I don’t suppose it will be easy to get any sauce for this. If anyone has a relative or someone they know in the business it would be great to get more information.
There was a video a few months ago talking about diesel additives needed to make the fuel not being produced. So what was on hand, in refinement, and already delivered is all that will be available for up to a year.
Keep in mind most backup power generators are also diesel, millitary also diesel, tractor trailers, contruction equipment, trains etc.
This is a shut down of everything without diesel.
My point exactly!
I believe you might be referring to DEF, a separate additive that newer Diesel engines are required to add to their fuel. This is another reason I love my 2008 Ford F-250 —- no DEF required and NO electronics to be tracked. Besides, you can’t haul horses with a Tesla.
DEF is actually fertilizer - urea.
So then just pee in the fuel tank?
Would probably work, or just “delete” the DEF system. There are firmware updates to make it show as having def still so you don’t get a light on the dash, or just get an old truck.
Oh, so like baby formula? Another manufactured crisis by an inept government.
No they aren’t inept this was strategically planned. Kill the economy, particularly small businesses by the lockdowns, by mandates re. distancing/barricades, necessary and unnecessary businesses (liquor stores good, gyms bad), by supply chain issues. Control travel by vax mandates and masks on airplanes, trains, cruise ships, uber, taxis, buses; increasing gas costs via shutting down pipelines, drilling on public lands, decreasing output in existing oil fields. Cause famine, death and destruction of family farms by killing hundreds and thousands of poultry from “avian flu”;decrease fertilizer for crops via war in Ukraine, railways decreasing the amount of fertilizer they will transport; massive death of cattle decreasing meat production; lack of feed d/t inability to grow as many crops from decreased fertilizers resulting in less food for cattle and less cattle for meat and dairy production; destruction of food processing plants leads to supply chain issues in grocery and formula manufacturing. Decreased diesel fuel production further decreases supply chain issues for durable medical goods and pharmaceuticals, food, gasoline. Lack of gasoline and rising costs decrease revenues at grocery stores from inability to get goods d/t decreased diesel fuel, less demand because less gasoline decreases customers to stores and restaurants further destroying small businesses. Inflation and rising gas prices decrease unnecessary spending like for beauty salons, barbers, back to school clothes and supplies, gym memberships, etc. Add to the the probable stock market crash. It is a well planned and executed criminal enterprise. Whoever was not maimed or killed by the Covid shot, will be financially destroyed, or killed or injured by famine or our corrupt doctors and hospitals. All thanks go to the Democrats who have caused major destruction and chaos in just 19 months.
A possibility: Refineries use (natural) gas to produce hydrogen, which they then use to remove Sulphur from diesel. The spike in gas prices in late 2021 made that process prohibitively expensive, cutting diesel output.

Diesel or Diesel engine fluid (DEF)
Diesel ''Exhaust'' Fluid
" I do know that that was one of the things the railroads were going to quit shipping."
And diesel locomotives run on what?
Watching this...
Awesome. I have a diesel vehicle.
Having a diesel vehicle will be the least of your worries. The trucking industry is what is at stake here. Without trucks there is no commerce. Utter chaos to follow.
Absolutely true and no small feat to reverse.
