My only concern is that it seems that FBI has replaced slipping a bag of weed into someone's car with planting child porn into their computer these days.
And the only protection against that is..there really isn't one.
You can flip the power supply and cut power from your outlet, but when you turn it on they'll probably know and be prepared.
It helps to know your PC in and out, have hidden files shown, and maintain your PC.
But non-enthusiasts, which often the people they target aren't, don't tend to power off their PCs -- at all -- and don't take the extra step to shut the power to the outlet (e.g. flip your power strip to off) which may also cause damage over time to your power supply too.
They're very vulnerable to any concerted effort, and they may not know what an %appdata% is, which probably ends up being a place where it's hidden by the people who would frame them.
In digital forensics none of that actually matters.
