Thank God there are a growing number of homeschool curricula about logic, reasoning, and identifying & defeating fallacies. Amazing how much of today's main fallacies were defined and defeated back in Ancient Greece, like Sophism.
Also, guess what? You don't have to be homeschooling or have children of school age to buy these books. But if you do, and you're not homeschooling, please consider this your wake-up call!
Authority worship is the problem. Absolutely.
I know someone that I think I will ask.. "Whose authority are you worshipping?" That'll get the ball rolling.
While sources are important to allow the spreading of ideas, knowledge and wisdom are not the same as ideas.
It requires critical freethinking, indeed.
A call to authority is just as much a logical fallacy as a true Scottsman, a red Herring or ad hominem.
It would be beneficial to study logical fallacies.
