The flipside argument is that there was no internet social media to promote fear and there was more critical thinking happening due to the silent generation and the WWII generation.
People back then trusted television, radio and newspaper media far more. But it was still limited in reach compared today's mass media. There was no mass lock down due to the swine flu epidemic as an example.
Plus, back then people were in more social clubs and discussed person to person and families were larger. And there were more nuclear families and less single households.
Correct. They did try to do somethin like this in 2003 with SARS and we laughed at them. But there was still some independence in the media, no social media and they didn't pull out all the stops like they did with COVID. I still had a Nextel phone (pre Crackberry), lol. I think SARS was a test run to figure out what they needed to get in place for COVID.
You could also argue that we didn't take the jab bc we DO have the internet and are capable of doing our own research and that's why we don't listen to the TV, radio, etc.
The internet is a great tool but it has to be utilized with a critical mind. Or else it is not any different than any other mass media platform.
Indeed the internet has connected and sped up our common understanding of how the world really works. And the systems put in place to grind people down have become more evident.

Makes sense, since COVID is allegedly caused by SARS-CoV-2.
Debate is the key element of all free societies. When open debate erodes or is shunned that is when dark times follow.
